Great site

Aug 2026

Liked Large tent pitch with electric hookup. Lots of space and some great views to Solway Firth. Good amenities which were very clean. Nice marked out walk around the site. Easy drive to Keswick and the northern end of the lakes.

Disliked Only minor issue was sometimes the showers ran cold but it was so hot outside it didn’t really matter.

Lovely rural site with great views

Jun 2024

Liked The campsite is set in a quiet rural position with spectacular views over fields to the sea. It has a few hard standing areas and the rest is a field that has a very gentle slope. Robin Hoods Bay is only a half mile walk away along the coastal path that was easily accessible by taking a short walk around the farm buildings. Check in was very straightforward: a quick phone call to the proprietor on arrival. I was advised to drive through the field gate and pitch up! Simple. The gate is kept closed at all times. Despite all the rain, I managed to find a pitch that was fairly dry to set up camp. Although the toilet and shower facilities were simple, they were adequate for my short stay. When I was there, there were only three people on the site so there was no queuing for one of the two toilets or the shower. I could imagine if it were busier, then this might become an issue. There was also an outside sink for washing pots and a stand pipe. This area was attractively lit up at night by numerous solar lights but a torch/lamp would be useful to find your way in the dark. There are a number of farm animals next to the pitch and some that wander freely around. There were some lovely rare breed sheep in an enclosure next to the site and the curious ducks and peacocks dropped by to check that I was enjoying my stay. The peacocks were early risers and did like to make their presence known but this was not an issue for me. The site is well positioned for exploring the coastal path in both directions towards Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby (6 miles away) to the North and Ravenscar to the south. I only had the one interaction with the proprietor on arrival and the rest of the time I was left to my own devices.

Disliked The site is very exposed with little natural shelter so could be challenging in wet and windy conditions. Due to the months of rain we have had, the site was very wet and parts of the site were boggy therefore, it took me a while to find a suitable spot to pitch.

Liked The campsite staff were very helpful and friendly. The site had toilet and washing facilities that were regularly cleaned. Pitches were generous.
