Liked: Much better than expected, Has a shop, food van and bar, area for dogs and canal towpaths are just a short walk out of main entrance which has a dog friendly pub about 20 mins walk away
Disliked: Some of the reviews, yes they're portaloos but they were clean and fairly new, think some of the reviewers should stick to caravan club sites

Lovely canal walk along to the local pub
Food available and a small shopDisliked: We knew this at the time of booking but the toilet situation isn’t great. Luckily we were self contained as I wouldn’t have used them. They were like being at a festival really not great at all.
No pigs at all to watch and look at
During 2025 we have had a few comments about our toilets and requests for a toilet block. The Pig Place is not on mains water and never will be, we have our own water source from a borehole. The water goes through three filters and is tested annually to ensure that it is safe to drink straight from the tap – it is.
Borehole supply means that we are unable to offer either showers or a permanent toilet block. We have 7 portable toilets (on of which is set up as a urinal to prevent queues at busy times). They are cleaned regularly – usually by me. They have signage asking users to be considerate to other campers and ‘leave no trace’ of their visit and toilet brushes are installed in each cubicle to make this possible – however not every user adheres to this request.
I am sure everyone can appreciate that it is impossible for us to monitor every toilet after every user has left.
I’m open to suggestions as to how we can ensure the toilets can be left how people would wish them to be.
This has been by far the worst year of comments regarding our toilets – we have been using this system for over 12 years.
The provision of the facility is to open up camping @ The Pig Place to those who do not have their own facilities – however it would appear that the majority of comments are from campers who do have their own! Might I suggest that they use them as we have a toilet emptying point by the main gate for use on departure!

Disliked: Please get a toilet block. The portaloos are the only thing that lets this place down.

Unbelievable full English breakfast from the onsite food vendor.
Good welcome with quick show around where things are!Disliked: Uneven ground.
No showers but aware there was none.
We went for supposed fishing but no swims to fish.
Awkward fishing between moored barges.
Not ideal.
If want fishing go elsewhere.
Otherwise ideal good value friendly place

Liked: Lovely location for walking up and down the Oxford canal. There’s a little bar, food truck and small farm shop on site which is as a nice touch. Toilets were clean and sound. No showers and the running water was slow as it’s from a borehole, but didn’t bother us at all.
Disliked: Probably only thing was no showers but we knew that before hand so didn’t bother us really but would probably be a nice touch

Campsite computer system was not working, so I was not expected. Thankfully I had proof of my booking and all was well.

We are unable to have showers as we are not on mains water here.
You were charged an additional £5 because you booked a back packer/motorcyclist/canoe pitch that does not have a car allocation as the price is only £10 per night. You arrived in a car and we upgraded your pitch to one with a car allocation.
