Whether it’s having peaceful picnics on site, mapping out the way to golden-sand beaches or exploring the walled city of Cartagena, you’ll be ready for all sorts of adventures from Area Camper Caravanas Home. This well-equipped, dog-friendly site is in a great location, just nine kilometres from the centre of Cartagena and half an hour’s drive from the coast. While chilling in a city café is just as lovely, historic Cartagena is full of opportunities for sightseeing too. Top sights include the Roman theatre, town hall, the Isaac Peral submarine, the handsome Roman Forum Quarter, the Concepción Castle Museum, Fuerte de Navidad, modernist buildings and many more museums, fortresses and places of historical heritage. With Roman, Carthaginian and Holy Week festivities throughout the year, it’s a lively place to be with many opportunities for dining, drinking and shopping when you're not busy touring the sights. Back at base, well-equipped facilities include drinking water, laundry facilities, showers, 24-hour security, wastewater drainage for grey and black waters, WiFi, a children’s area and a tourist information point, as well as motorhome rental and sales. Feeling peckish? Handily, there are restaurants, a supermarket, gas station and other amenities within five minutes’ drive of the site. A tidy, welcoming spot, great for Cartagena. Staff get a thumbs-up for being helpful. Toilets, showers, and kitchen are well-kept. Free WiFi is a bonus. Pitches can be cosy, and showers limited, but most found it a comfy, convenient stay with good transport.

Liked We had an excellent stay at this campsite! Everything was clean and tidy, and the facilities were excellent — including a kitchenette. A special shout-out to Gloria, who truly made our visit unforgettable. It was such a pleasure to meet her — her warmth and hospitality added a personal touch that made our stay even more memorable. Liked Very friendly site with good clean facilities the two guys who run the site were very friendly and knowledgeable The site is a short bus ride 120 each way to Cartagena Each morning a local bread man comes to the site with a selection of breads and pastries would recommend for a visit to Cartagena WIFI Available across the site

Whether you’re searching for beaches, the city or somewhere with great hikes and historical sites, you’ll be well-based at Area Camper Caravanas Home. For historical places, visit the Ethnographic Museum Santa Barbara Ports (five minutes’ drive), the abandoned mines at Minas de mazarrón (25 minutes) or the medieval-inspired fortress at C-1 Batería de Castillitos (40 minutes). There are no shortages of beaches a short journey from the site, either, so beach gear and hiking shoes are another essential item for your packing list. Some stunning beaches within driving distance of the site include Cala Leño (45 minutes), Playa del Gorguel (35 minutes) or Playa de Fatares (half an hour), a top place for coastal hikes and wildlife spotting with a sandy shore as a reward. Those of you with kids in your group will also be happy to find that the site is close to the Laberinto del parque de Tentegorra (10 minutes), the largest vegetable maze in Spain, and one place where it’s okay to get lost for a while.
