If you like your landscapes somewhat varied when on hols, you'll be chuffed to have a Spanish holiday at Camping Giralda, an Isla Cristina site set in a protected conservation area on 15 hectares of sandy grounds and dense pine forest, on the edge of a river mouth and surrounded by thick green vegetation. More? The waves and sands of the Atlantic are only 150 metres away from your scenic base.
This is a site with top-notch facilities and with facilities set up for lounging around: there's a pool and paddling pool surrounded by a large lawn area (afternoon siesta? Sí); a sports court and a playground, and activities aplenty organised during the school holidays. Free wifi is available in the TV room and payable hotspots are throughout the park.
For eats, the Giralda supermarket is well stocked so you won't have to drive off site in search of supplies if you don't want to, or for true lounging about, amble over to the restaurant and cafeteria for food and drinks throughout the day.
Giralda also has four amenities blocks with showers and toilets, free hot water available 24/7, and disabled and family-friendly facilities. There's also a washing-up corner with several sinks and a launderette with a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
The site has an exterior car park to keep things simple for guests leaving early in the morning.

Local attractions
The beaut seaside resort of Isla Cristina is popular with Spanish natives for its long and lovely kilometres of sandy beach and its setting among protected pine forests and marshes, by the Carreras river mouth. It's also a highly regarded fishing port, so try the spoils of this for yourself at the busy fish market or one of the many seafood restaurants by the harbour.
Many other options are around whether you want to drive a bit or a bit further: you could get to the Guadiana river about 15 kilometres from Camping Giralda to sail gently down it by boat, or wander around local villages like Almonte and Doñana. The towns and villages of the Columbus Route, detailing Christopher Columbus's preparation for his first voyage to the Americas, are about 70 kilometres away.
Going a bit further, the flamenco and the fino wine of Seville, Jerez and Cadiz are a couple of hours' drive away and other comely coastal towns like Isla Canela, La Antilla, Punta Umbria or Matalascañas are within a hundred-kilometre radius. And sticking closer to home, Portugal and its border are only 15 kilometres from base.
