- Quiet Lublin Voivodeship farm site surrounded by fields and meadows
- Kraszewski Museum 10 minutes’ walk; Green Velo Route 35 minutes’ ride
- Communal kitchen and modern shower; abundant wildlife on site
If you’re looking for a peaceful rural escape in eastern Poland, far from the crowds of Warsaw yet only 2.5 hours by car away, Kampinski Campground might be the very spot for you. This peaceful site is on a small farm surrounded by meadows, managed in an environmentally friendly manner and edging the sleepy hamlet of Romanów in the Lublin Voivodeship.
On the pitches, mature linden trees provide privacy and shelter for guests, but even if you don’t want to socialise with other guests, the friendly chickens, ducks and geese will probably seek you out to say ‘hello’.
Thoughtful outdoor amenities include a firepit, a covered pergola and hammocks for unwinding as you watch vibrant sunsets over the fields. There’s also a no-frills communal kitchen with basic utensils for cooking up simple camping meals, and a smart modern shower room with a washing machine and dryer in there too.
Feel free to have a wander around the farm, where there are vegetable and flower gardens to explore. Further afield, you can visit Lublin Voivodeship villages with storied churches, but wherever your travels take you, wildlife abounds, so keep an eye out for elk, roe deer, foxes and hares, as well as storks nesting precariously on telegraph poles.

Local attractions
Be sure to take a pair of sturdy walking boots for the endless hiking options accessed directly from the pitches, or you can follow boardwalks through the forested Polesie National Park (40 minutes’ drive). Likewise cyclists can pedal along nigh-deserted rural lanes, explore scenic countryside along the Bug River or join the long-distance Green Velo Route at Hanna (35 minutes’ bike ride).
You can also get your daily exercise by canoeing along the Bug (half an hour’s drive), go fishing – there are a couple of fishing ponds within 35 minutes’ drive – or indulge in a little light-hearted shooting practice at Paintball Sosnówka (10 minutes).
Cultural pursuits might include a stroll to the Kraszewski Museum (10 minutes’ walk) to tour the childhood home of novelist Ignacy Kraszewski, while 45 minutes’ drive takes you to the historic city of Biała Podlaska, home to the dazzling-white Baroque-era architecture of the Radziwillow Castle Complex and Church of St Anne.
