- Site with stunning Amalfi Coast views at Conca dei Marini, Campania
- Amalfi 10 minutes’ drive; Pompeii and Naples just over an hour
- Seasonal produce served in Amapola’s Kitchen; barbecue available
How does the sound of a gorgeous little hideaway high above the spectacular Amalfi Coast grab you? Set on a steep terraced hillside at Conca dei Marini, between Positano and Amalfi in Campania, Tenuta Amapola is a micro-site that feels as though it’s suspended between the sky and deep-blue sea. It’s surrounded by organic gardens where owner Giulia grows produce and spoils her guests with an abundance of juicy tomatoes, lemons, mozzarella and other home-grown ingredients served in the simple on-site Amapola’s Kitchen when in season. You can also buy zero-miles produce to add to meals cooked up on the shared barbecue.
The brace of simple pitches have seating under the shade of lemon trees, a plunge pool, up-cycled furniture and of course, truly stunning views up and down the jagged coastline. Practical amenities include hot showers, a washing-up area and a fridge for keeping all your organic goodies nice and fresh.
The site is dog-friendly, but do be careful to keep them on leads around the property as cats and other free-roaming wildlife make it their home too. If you’re building up your eco-credentials by travelling on public transport, Giulia will pick you up by prior arrangement.

Local attractions
If you’d like to hang out on site and soak up the relaxed vibe, you can book massage, yoga and meditation sessions with Giulia on arrival. There’s a lot to see and do along the Amalfi Coast too; perhaps you can start with a day exploring the exclusive enclaves of Amalfi (10 minutes’ drive), which has a spectacular cathedral in a blend of styles from Moorish to Gothic, or discover Positano (35 minutes), with its colourful townhouses tumbling down the hillside to the beach.
You can head way back in time to ancient Roman days with a visit to the ruins of Pompeii (one hour and five minutes), destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Also worth a visit for its architectural wonders is the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum (an hour and 15 minutes), or you can climb the volcano itself (an hour and 90 minutes) for awesome views over the Gulf of Naples.
Coming up to date, when you’d like to discover a lively, thoroughly 21st-century metropolis – albeit one stuffed with world-class museums, neoclassical architecture and impressive churches – then it’s bustling Naples (an hour and 20 minutes) for you.
