- Hardstanding touring pitches with fabulous rural Abruzzo views
- A 10-minute drive to Roseto degli Abruzzi; Atri half an hour away
- Part of a Dutch-owned agriturismo with bar outdoor pool
How might you like to park your caravan or motorhome somewhere that you can open the doors and be greeted with sweeping views across the Abruzzo countryside? If that sounds like a good idea, take a look at the touring pitches at Casa Cologna.
This small-scale site has just a handful of pitches in the grounds of a rural agriturismo just outside Cologna Paese in the Teramo province (about 20 minutes’ drive from the city of the same name). It’s easily accessed from the main road, but this is a highly peaceful spot with gorgeous views and a friendly, relaxed vibe – just the thing for a few days of downtime.
The Dutch owners of this property love welcoming guests to their adopted region, so they’re very happy to give out tips on all the best things to see and do nearby. This area is full of outdoor activities, including hikes, bike rides, horse riding, rafting, canoeing and adventure parks – and as it’s a wine-producing area there are plenty of wineries and vineyards dotted around as well. Look out from the site and you’ll see mountain views, but it’s also handy to know that the coast is only about a 10-minute drive away for beach days in Roseto degli Abruzzi.
Back on site, the owners have created a lovely quiet spot in which to relax, with access to an open-air pool (with more of those gorgeous views) and a bar for tasty drinks and snacks. Practical facilities include wifi, a launderette, showers and toilets.

Local attractions
Abruzzo is one of Italy's less-visited regions, and that lack of mass tourism makes it a fantastic area for visitors who like outdoor activities. To explore some of this splendid scenery you may like to follow one of the area’s 42 waymarked hiking trails, take your bike out for a spin or sign up for horse riding adventures (10 minutes' drive) taking you through woods and rivers or along the beach.
Sticking to the open air, you may like to take a wander in Borsacchio Nature Reserve (15 minutes), climb up into the trees at Adventure Park Cerrano (20 minutes) or spend some time at the wave pool and waterslides of Acquapark Onda Blu (25 minutes). And of course, there’s also the option of a beach day at Roseto degli Abruzzi (10 minutes).
Fancy dipping into the area’s culture and heritage while you're here? You may like to take a trip to Atri (half an hour), full of narrow medieval streets and with a gorgeously ornate cathedral, or head to Pescara (45 minutes) to visit the Museo Casa Natale di Gabriele D'Annunzio and Museo delle Genti d’Abruzzo before hitting the long sandy beach.
