What customers say

A peaceful spot by the river with tidy facilities and roomy, flat spots. Staff were helpful, town nearby. Most enjoyed it, but a few missed toilet seats and found no WiFi.

Powered grass and earth site

Liked Lovely little site next to the Sarthe with some great pitches next to the river if you’re able. The location is superb. If you’re looking for a site as a stop off or as a destination in itself, it’s fantastic. Beaumont is a lovely small town with plenty of shops, patisseries, pizza and other take aways if you don’t want to cook.

Pitches are level and generous, electric reliable and the access pretty good.

Facilities block was clean and tidy with good showers. Do take a toilet roll though!

We were so lucky to see some spectacular sights, from a small Otter, fish and all sorts. Even the skies were so clear we saw some amazing stars and constellations.

I was surprised at how under used this site is, I reckon it was less than 10% full during our stay, which seems such a shame.

If we are travelling via the area next time, we will definitely return. Thanks for a great couple of days!

Local attractions

Walking from Camping Val de Sarthe will get you to shops and scenic points like Pont Romain (10 minutes’ walk) in hardly any time. Driving, however, opens up much more… with a car, get out to museums, lakes, heritage sites and cities. In the city of Le Mans (35 minutes’ drive), the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum will walk you through the history of the famed 24 of Le Mans car race. The actual racecourse, Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans, has simulators and go-karting activities. Browse around the city's cathedral, which has Gothic and Romanesque elements, or venture to the Royal Abbey of Epau to see a fine example of a former Cistercian abbey. To the north is Alençon (half an hour), famed for its lacemaking. It has a lace-making museum as well as a stunning 15th-century basilica and the birthplace of Saint Thérèse Martin. You may fancy planning an outing to Fresnay-sur-Sarthe (15 minutes) too, a medieval town with a castle and a pretty gorgeous riverside (picnic, maybe…?).
