A spa town within five minutes – and a shuttle bus to ferry you to it. And this is only a teeny part of why Camping de l'Adour in the Pyrenees is just so spectacularly splendid: stop reading for a sec and flick through the site pics for a few more hints. So... you've spotted the hammock, in green and scenic setting by the Adour river? The Jacuzzi – and the indoor heated pool – facing the mighty Pic du Midi? The space, the views, the river fishing and the colourful flowers... this is pretty much Pyrenees perfection. Camping de l'Adour is in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, under a kilometre from Gerde and two kilometres from the fine and swish thermal spa centres in Bagnères-de-Bigorre. You could just potter around locally for your whole stay should you so wish (there's a fair bit of submerging to be had in those thermal spas), but if you're up for some sightseeing or outdoor adventuring, both Lourdes and the winter resort of Le Grand Tourmalet are half an hour's drive away. This family-friendly and peaceful site has plenty of facilities to keep all ages occupied, including a wellness area with a Jacuzzi, sauna and solarium, a kids' area, miniature golf, a pétanque court and table tennis. Also on site are a games room with free wifi, a reading area and board games – and as aforementioned, there are the fishing spots, the hammocks, the views...

Local attractions

Serenity seekers have been bubbling away in spa baths around Bagnères-de-Bigorre since Roman times (you may have heard that those Romans liked their baths), so a wallow in these waters is practically mandatory while you're in town. After that, there are fountains, pools and splendid old buildings to admire; two museums (one on art and one on marble) to visit, and the pretty Parc Thermal spa garden to wander around. For a subterranean rather than a submerging time, make for the limestone caverns of the Médous caves, where you can take a boat on the underground river. A cinema, theatre and casino are in town too for glitzy eves. The Pic du Midi's been pretty famed in these parts for yonks too: drive to La Mongie half an hour's drive away to be hauled (gently) up the mountain by cable car, to visit the museum and the spectacularly set 19th-century observatory.

Liked Pool closed to early some family hed ues.of it no nothing for to do may be for alot older people but I do not recommend for families of young infants teenagers nothing for them to do pool closes at 7 30 maybe if it stayed open till about 9 kids and teenagers might not be so upset

Disliked No shop as specified just shelf and a little fridge of a couple of things so what highly recommend not to run out of anything because they're Village does not stay opened late I personally what not stay again
