- Gard site on the Cèze river, with beach for swimming and fishing
- Aven d'Orgnac 15 minutes' drive; half an hour to Vallon Pont d’Arc
- Restaurant, takeaway and bar with extensive Belgian beer collection
As the name suggests, Camping La Plage has direct access to a beach – but this Gard location may not be quite what you expect. In fact, it’s about 100 kilometres from the Mediterranean coast, just on the edge of the village of Saint-André-de-Roquepertuis.
The beach in question is on the banks of the Cèze river, which passes right by the site and gives guests lovely views as well as access to the water for swimming, fishing and peaceful days of paddleboarding or tubing (you can rent kit on site if you don't have your own). Chairs and sun loungers are also available for those who’d rather just chill out with a book for a little while.
That beach area may be the highlight of the site, but it's not the only option for a bit of activity here. The site also has a play area, a pétanque court and facilities for table tennis, football, volleyball, badminton, darts and table football. In summer there’s also a programme of entertainment including karaoke, live music, themed meals and bingo – the latter with the chance to win prizes including tickets to local attractions.
When it’s not themed meal day, you’ll still be able to get your hands on tasty food at the restaurant, whether you’d like to pick up a takeaway pizza or settle at a table for home-cooked meals, easy snacks, ice creams and drinks from the beer cellar (it’s got almost 40 varieties to sample…).

Local attractions
There's some good food and drinks on offer at this site, and plenty of ways to work up an appetite and thirst in the local area. The Cèze Valley has numerous hiking and mountain biking trails, along with horse riding and climbing activities and a family-friendly tree-climbing park at Accroche Aventure (20 minutes’ drive).
Another lovely way to take in some of the scenery is a canoe trip from Vallon Pont d’Arc (half an hour), taking you through the Pont d’Arc stone arch and the stunning landscapes of the Gorges de l’Ardèche. Another fabulous river view nearby is at Pont du Gard (45 minutes), one of the world’s best-preserved Roman aqueducts.
Elsewhere nearby you may like to explore villages like Montclus, Aiguèze and Lussan (all within 20 minutes’ drive, and all members of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France), or head underground to see the subterranean scenery of Aven d’Orgnac (15 minutes) and Grotte de la Salamandre (25 minutes).
