- Family campsite on a leafy park 10 minutes’ drive from Porto-Vecchio
- Plage de Palombaggia 25 minutes’ drive; Farm Padula 15 minutes
- Two swimming pools and a playground; restaurant, snack bar and shop
Time to whisk the family away for a seaside holiday in southern Corsica? Consider staying at family-owned Camping La Vetta, set in a leafy 20-acre park 10 minutes’ drive from the lovely old city of Porto-Vecchio and some rather gorgeous white-sand beaches.
What to expect on site? Two outdoor pools for a start – one for youngsters and another for swimming laps and engaging in water-aerobics classes (should that appeal). Kids are well catered for with a play area and ping-pong tables, and you can all make new friends over games of boules.
There are all sorts of foodie offerings on hand too, with croissants and pastries on sale in the morning, and a supply of pizzas and ice cream throughout the day. Local beers and wines are served in the terrace bar (get there for happy hour), and Corsican specialities in the restaurant – where there’s often live music in the evening – and of course anyone wanting to go self-catering can use the communal barbecues found across the park.
Anything you need can be sourced in the local village of Trinité (five minutes’ walk), and there are bigger stores for major shopping expeditions in Porto-Vecchio.

Local attractions
Chances are you’ll soon be heading to the beach; there’s certainly plenty of choice, from the sandy sweep backed by bars at Grande Plage de Cala Rossa (10 minutes’ drive) to the fine white sand and red granite rocks of Plage de Palombaggia (25 minutes). Lively Santa Giulia beach (20 minutes) sits in a crescent-shaped bay – the northern end of the sand is normally the quietest.
For a day out with the teens, head for the high nets and climbing trails set among pine trees at Parc Aventure de Porto-Vecchio (10 minutes). If you have younger children, most will love the chance to cuddle rabbits and ponies at Farm Padula (15 minutes).
Visit pretty Porto-Vecchio (10 minutes) to have a meander around the cobbled streets of the Borgo old town, browse in the indie boutiques and check out the Tyrrhenian Sea views from the ramparts of the 16th-century citadel. It’s also a lively spot for some bar-hopping at sundown, and you might like to linger on to taste local cured meats, cheeses and wines in a terrace restaurant overlooking the old port.
