What customers say

Great spot near Bergerac town and the river. Friendly staff. Facilities clean but dated, with occasional hot water issues. Pitches can be muddy/uneven, some found it crowded. Location is a big plus.

Liked Location great for the town and historic visits. Also on the side of the river so very pretty and nice walks

Disliked But dark as lots of trees also a bit muddy probably would be ok if sunny though

Power optional grass and earth tent site (two person)

Liked Nothing.

Disliked The campsites section for tents was in poor condition with holes dug by animals. There were 2 of the pitches that had long term campers with broken down vehicles and very untidy. Toilets were not clean.

Power optional grass and earth motorhome site

Liked As everyone says, fabulous location- can walk across bridge and in Bergerac.

Disliked I have used much better and cleaner toilets and showers at a festival. The pitches were all waterlogged, there was mud everywhere and the facilities were dirty with lukewarm water, no soap and many lightbulbs out so a shower in the evening was out of the question.
Ladies rugby teams also camping meant loud partying until early hours so wasn’t very restful.
I understand that the site is by the river and the trees cannot be cut but something needs to be done about the appalling surface of the pitches and the dated facilities.

Liked Der Platz ist ruhig, ganz nah an der Altstadt und sehr günstig. Außerdem ist alles unkompliziert auch wenn man spät abends ankommt.

Local attractions

Begin your Bergerac break with a trip to the town museum, which houses a collection of wine exhibits. If drinking’s not your only vice, stop by at the Tobacco Museum for an insight into the history of smoking as well. For more wholesome outings, take a trip along the Dordogne on a traditional gabare from the town pier or take a 15-minute drive to hire canoes and power your own paddling. There’s plenty of wine to sip in town, but it’s also worth spending some time taking tours of some of the area’s top wineries – the excellent Château de Monbazillac (10 minutes’ drive) is a good place to start. Those with nippers who aren’t yet of drinking age may instead like to do their castle visits at Château de Lanquais (25 minutes) or Château de Lauzun (35 minutes). Other wine-free days out locally include coming eye to eye with the biggest snake in Europe (a hefty 130 kilograms of serpent, no less) at Zoo de Mescoules (20 minutes) and moseying around the ancient mosaics at Montcaret archaeological site (40 minutes).
