Off to the Okavango Delta? Put yourself in a particularly fine position for explores of this extraordinary area with a stay at Swamp Stop, a choice spot with a viewing platform and lounge that look out over vistas of the mighty river (and, with luck, some of the wild beasts that frequent its banks).
As fine as that corner of the site is, for best chances of seeing all the exotic creatures that roam this part of the world you’ll be wanting to get out and about, of course. That’s easily sorted here, as there’s a wide-ranging menu of outing options to pick from, including boat trips, fishing safaris and guided walks. Hoping to be captain of your own craft? The site has a launch area and a storage facility for those bringing their own boat to paddle around.
Around such adventures it’s likely you’ll want to spend a bit of time on site, taking swims in the two pools, drinks in the bar area and meals in the restaurant. Or perhaps it’ll be time for snoozes on your pitch – each of the marked and named pitches has an electricity and water supply to keep things comfy, and a firepit facility for those who feel a chill or whose experience wouldn’t be complete without a classic braai evening.
Folk not travelling in a four wheel drive needn’t fear the trip to get to this site – it’s an easy 10-minute drive from the A35, coming off the main road at the nearest town of Sepupa.

Most of the activity you’ll get involved in here is likely to revolve around the site – have a chat with staff at reception to sort all the outings that take your fancy. For active times, they can help arrange guided island walks, horse riding and fishing safaris (at their best during the barbel run season around September and October).
Boat hire can also be sorted for those who’d like to get out their own: test your skills by renting for an hour or two, or plan a more epic adventure that spans an entire day.

Powered grass and sand tent or motorhome site
Liked: Beautiful treed site next to the river. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: Booking via Pitchup was problematic. Swampstop had no knowledge of our booking or deposit paid to Pitchup. We were obliged to pay Swampstop the full fee.
