- Seven hectares of green space by the Semois river
- A 300-metre walk from Tintigny village in the lush Ardennes
- Heated outdoor pool, bar, restaurant, wifi, play area and table tennis
Hiking, canoeing, climbing and mountain biking – all sorts of pursuits are within reach from Camping de Chênefleur, a stunning seven-hectare site 300 metres’ walk from the village of Tintigny. These lush green grounds are in a scenic part of the Gaume, on the edge of the gorgeous Ardennes region (an area so scenic that Belgium, France and Luxembourg have all claimed a bit for themselves).
Located in an area known for its mild climate, this park’s been set up to give parents the best chance of chillout time while kids entertain themselves in the open air. Options for such a plan include splashing in the heated swimming pool, paddling in the Semois river, bouncing about on the playground, honing table tennis and pétanque skills or taking part in activities organised by the entertainment team.
And if the plan involves rather more getting out and about? There are 1,200 kilometres of walking trails and cycle routes to explore locally, with mountain bikes to rent on site. Wifi is accessible around the site (free in the communal building; fee charged elsewhere) if you want to download some maps to help you navigate your way around.
On top of the excellent activities around here are plenty of handy amenities, including a shop and a bar-restaurant (serving snacks and takeaway meals). Water taps are dotted around the grounds to deal with thirsty times, and there are a couple of heated toilet and shower blocks, one of which has a baby and toddler bathroom and a laundry room.

Local attractions
Away from the main Ardennes trails, gentler ambles can be had around Château du Faing (10 minutes’ drive), a neo-gothic pad whose classic turrets date from the late 19th century, or the Cistercian monastery Orval Abbey (20 minutes), whose 1132 date of establishment makes it a rather older setup.
For more on the local history front, head to Gaumais local archaeology and ethnography museum (20 minutes) or skip over the border into France for a stroll around the citadel of Montmédy (half an hour). The scenic village of Torgny (half an hour) is worth a trip too to see its old hermit houses and the vineyards that surround it.
Fancy ticking off a third country on your trip? Point your travels eastwards for 40 minutes or so to get to Luxembourg City for a wander along the riverbanks, a trip underground through the tunnels of Casemates du Bock and arty times at the city’s numerous museums.
