Fully-serviced grass and earth caravan site

Liked Fabulous location on the banks of the river. Joni is a wonderful host - nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for 4 nights. The pitches are level, facilities are modest, very clean and everything works perfectly. There are sun loungers and kayaks available for use on the river. This is the perfect place for you if you want a truly peaceful campsite, stargazing and enjoying the fabulous landscape all around. It is also a good place from which to visit Tepelene, Gjiroklaster and explore the amazing Vjosa River valley. I am almost worried to give this review in case too many people find it!
Thank you Joni for a great stay. Sophie and Jeremy (UK)

Disliked Good idea to have watershoes to go in the river.

From the manager: Dear Sophie and Jeremy,

Thank you so much for your wonderful words and for choosing to stay with us by the river. We are truly delighted that you enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, the river activities, and the starry nights. It was a real pleasure to host you, and your kind appreciation means a lot to us.
We’re happy you found everything clean, comfortable, and relaxing – and thank you for the tip about watershoes, that’s excellent advice for future guests! 🌿🚣‍♂️
We look forward to welcoming you back anytime you wish to return. Safe travels and warm regards from Vjosa Valley.

Best wishes,
Joni

Local attractions

UNESCO-listed Gjirokastër (half an hour’s drive) may be your first port of call; plan to spend the day there exploring its higgledy-piggledy cobbled streets connected by steps as it sprawls gracefully uphill. Have a poke around the colourful bazaar in the Old Town and admire the ornate Ottoman houses in the Manalat Quarter before clambering up to the fortress for views across the city and its surrounding valleys. Tepelena (five minutes) also has plenty of heritage to its name; its history museum displays traditional regional costumes and relics from antiquity, while the town’s austere castle was once home to the notorious Ali Pasha, who ruled over much of the Ottoman Empire in the early 1800s. Those with a head for heights can cross the Aqueduct of Ali Pasha in Bënçë (10 minutes), built during his reign to bring water to the area. If you’d rather be hiking than driving around the countryside, there are tumbling waterfalls to discover in the hills surrounding Progonat (half an hour), as well as stunning trails and mountain views in Nivica Canyon (50 minutes).
