  • Family-friendly rural hideaway on a farm site with sea views
  • A 30-minute drive from Tenby and 20 minutes from Laugharne
  • Food shop and dog park; barbecues and campfires; coastal paths nearby
Grab your best beach gear and strap on your sturdiest shoes… when staying at Thorning Farm Glamping and Camping, the Camarthenshire coast is yours to uncover. Within 30 minutes’ drive of Tenby’s sandy beaches and 20 minutes from a mecca of Welsh poetry in the town of Laugharne, this Pendine site is well-versed in the art of coastal living, with sea views from the site and two coastal paths spinning out to local sandy beaches. Simply pick your plot among these hideaway pitches, settle down with your family, dogs or partner (whichever you please)… and hike, mountain bike or kayak your way around the coves and clifftops. As the day comes to a close, head back to site to warm the evening with a barbecue or campfire, storing any bits for the grill in the communal fridge. If you’re missing your favourite condiment, there’s a food shop on site or more shops within a 10-minute drive. Everyone is made to feel welcome here, even those of the canine kind, as there’s a dog park for them to stretch their legs. And for when you fancy a meal out, the small strip in Pendine, 10 minutes’ drive, has a nice selection of restaurants and bars where you can dig into a meal… with a side dish of sea views, too.

Sandpiper geodesic dome (sea view)

Liked: The glamping facilities, the fact we could take our fur babies, the view, the room and luxury of the pod. The hosts left us a gift for our stay as it was our honeymoon. Easy pathway down to beach, a big muddy due to wet weather but still accessible. Beaches a short drive away.

Disliked: The bumpy road to get to the site.

Liked: *Robin Pitch* Fantastic trip to Thorning Farm. We, as a same sex couple 🌈 were made to feel welcome at all times. Our pitch was private, well equipped with a good shower, compost toilet and storage area. The power and water supply were close to the hard standing within the pitch. Amazing views over the bay and lovely sunrises and sunsets. A short journey to Tenby, Amroth and Pendine. Owners were helpful when we had an issue with our campervan and we couldn’t be more grateful for this.. Compost toilet takes a little getting used to, but embraced and can see the benefit of using them! Phone signal and tv signal good! Drive bumpy, as per other reviews - but it’s a farm track on an almost wilding site, absolutely fine in a campervan. We had an issue with the toilet, but owners repaired quickly. Can’t wait to return again next year!

Disliked: Very very minor, but I would suggest that the washing up area, is covered over (like the next door pitch) and that there are solar or similar lights fitted inside the toilet and shower, we took our own but might be a quick and easy fit to make it even better.

Liked: Had your own pitch with shower and toilet. Loads of room. Guys on site were really friendly and helpful. 30min walk to beaches. Will definitely try one of the Geodomes in the future.

Disliked: The only issue we had was with the shower - the heat wouldnt stay on for long so would have to turn it on and off several times to have 1 shower.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: It was a fantastic place to stay- loved the size of the pitches, the privacy, fire pits and the views were just incredible . The owners were welcoming and friendly taking time to chat to me as I was on my own that was really appreciated. I also felt very happy there as a lone female traveller. Coffee and bacon baps from their hut were great and also good value for money

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: Absolutely loved that there are sea views wherever you go! We stayed in a non electric pitch and camped with a tent. It had all we needed, our own toilet! A picnic bench, firepit and enough space to relax. There is a shop on site that opens twice a day at convenient times but the owners are never too far. They were more than happy to help us with any questions and were very friendly. Our children loved playing at the little park in the middle and the dog loved the dog walk area. We didn't want to leave and were able to stay another night. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, we are already trying to plan a trip back.

Disliked: Not a dislike but a signpost to the water tap and washing up area would be helpful, especially as it was raining when we got there.

Powered grass and gravel tent or motorhome site

Liked: Fantastic location with great coastal views. Loved the large private pitches with our own toilet, shower and washing up facilities. Location is remote and therefore very peaceful. There is a 30 minute trek to an amazing, and pretty much secluded, sandy beach (or 10 min drive to Amroth which also offers a sandy beach along with a few cafes/shops). Lots more to do/see in the local area too. The owners were lovely and could not have been any more helpful and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Local attractions

Take a turn on all manner of rides in one of several theme parks in the area, from the big coasters of Oakwood Theme Park (half an hour’s drive) to the smaller chugging trains and swings of Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (20 minutes) or the assorted antics at Heatherton World of Activities (half an hour). A pre-historic twist on amusement, Dinosaur Park (half an hour) has plenty more roaring rides; afterwards, cool off on the slides at Blue Lagoon Water Park (half an hour). For something less adrenaline-fuelled, stroll through the valley of Colby Woodland Garden (15 minutes), perhaps stopping at the tea room for a cuppa. There are hundreds more plant species under the glass dome in the Botanic Garden of Wales (40 minutes), and once you’re done with the plants, you can visit the animal world on a walking safari through Manor Wildlife Park (25 minutes). Over in Laugharne (20 minutes), you can visit the grave of one of Wales’ most adored poets and walk through his old stomping grounds in the Dylan Thomas Boathouse. Further into the village, it's easy to see why the ruins of Laugharne Castle (20 minutes) inspired his verses.
