What customers say

Peaceful, top-notch campsite with amazing estuary views. Phil, the owner, is super friendly & helpful. Showers are spotless. Pitches are spacious, many with water/elec. Great base for exploring walks, beaches, and transport. Showers take coins, some pitches need levelling.

Liked The campsite was in a beautiful location, with an easy and dog friendly walk down to a dog friendly clean beach.
When the tide is low you are able to walk to Ferryside, where you will find a shop, a pub and 3 coffee houses
Phil, the owner of the campsite was extremely helpful, and nothing was too much trouble.
The toilets/showers were probably the cleanest amenities we have ever used, and they were constantly being cleaned (without disturbance of use)
The pitch sizes were very generous, and our pitch was also supplied with a wooden bench/seats
The location is also close to a lot of interesting places/towns to visit
This is a very dog friendly and quiet campsite with beautiful views across the estuary
An added bonus free wi-fi which worked constantly
We intend to return

Liked Well what can I say my goldy Jayne and our little dog Tessy have found a wonderful immaculately clean, quiet, picturesque , and utterly amazing campsite we had 3 nights here which wasn’t long enough. The lovely owner was called Phil he was 💯 percentage a great helping hand to us as we haven’t done much camping in the Motorhome . The site is spotless everywhere there are clean bins at lots of locations and includes recycling .The ‘ablution’blocks are immaculate and are cleaned every morning and evening and there is a radio station playing easy listening songs 24 hours in the showers and toilets for those who need the toilet quite regularly as we did lol sorry 😔😳 all the other people staying in motorhomes and tents were very respectful to each other on the site and all very friendly. Truly this place is a gem 👍🫶hope the big world 🌍 leaves this place alone, there’s hill walks and beaches nearby but you don’t have to go anywhere as the sight and views are amazing.Lovely clean pitches and quite spacious too. There’s a small village a 20 min walk down the lane only 2 pubs there that aren’t always open , there’s a handy train station to hop onto other places and a very well stocked convenience shop. The residents in this area are laid back good old salt of the earth , its dog friendly as long as you keep dogs on their lead. You can order food from a takeaway and just walk down to the gate to collect it .We cant wait to return 🤞🙏we met two wonderful people and Bailey 🐕‍🦺here and made some wonderful memories. If you are seeking peace and quiet this is the place you won’t regret booking.A great big thanks to the owner and a true gentleman Phil always there for help, advise and he keeps a lovely camp site. Out of ten I’d rate it 12. Just our view Ray,Jayne & Tessy

Liked Peaceful small campsite with incredible views over the estuary. Phil was a brilliant host, he keeps his campsite immaculately clean and is friendly and informative.
We took the ferry across to Llansteffan which was fun. We also hopped on the train and looked around Burry Port with a small harbour, lovely beaches and great walks. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and we will definitely return, hopefully for longer.

Disliked Nothing.

Route directions

By car: On approaching the first roundabout in Carmarthen turn left onto the A484 for Kidwelly. After about 500 metres you will pass Morrisons on the left-hand side. Go through the village of Idole (careful - there is a speed camera!) and continue for another three miles passing the Star Forge Garage on the right. A mile down a hill, take the turning for Ferryside located on the right-hand side (opposite the turning for Llandyfaelog). As you're approaching the village, turn right immediately before the humpback bridge. Ferryside Farm is the first property on the right. By train: From London, Bristol, Cardiff, or Swansea: the village of Ferryside can be reached via Arriva and First Great Western. Please check times before travelling. On arrival head down through the village passing the school on your right. After about 1.5 miles you will cross over a humpback bridge where the property can be accessed turning left into a no through road and then right into the driveway.

Local attractions

Naturally, the beaches – and the castles – are first: a paddle on Ferryside beach gives you a chance to see 12th-century Llansteffan Castle, on the other side of the Towy Estuary. It’s not much of a surprise to find out that this perch has been protected since at least Iron Age times – there was once an Iron Age fort here built by savvy ancestors protecting their section of bay from invaders. If you want to pop over for a look (as you should), it's a half-hour drive to get there. A fine collection of other castles are in the vicinity – it is Wales after all: 12th-century Kidwelly Castle and 11th-century Carmarthen Castle are the closest, but Laugharne is within 17 miles, Oystermouth 27, Newcastle Emlyn 28 and Carew 36. Once (or before) the castles are conquered, Carmarthen Bay, the Gower Peninsula and neighbouring Pembrokeshire have so many award-winning beaches you are hereby challenged to get around them in one trip. If you then fancy something inland, get to Colby Woods and Gardens or Pembrey Country Park, which has a dry ski slope, wildlife trails, horse riding and the longest toboggan run in Wales. Two types of racing are within 15 minutes of Ferryside: motor at Pembrey Racing Circuit and horse at Ffos Las Racecourse.
