Since you’ll be in a rural area already, it only makes sense that Raglan Farm Park (15 minutes’ drive) might be one of your first ports of call. The kids are likely to love this one, with bouncy castles, a sand pit and farm animals all around. From the furry or woolly things to the more historic, next up on your itinerary might be the medieval Raglan Castle (20 minutes) or the ruins of Tintern Abbey (15 minutes) in the Wye Valley. There’s a castle in Chepstow (15 minutes) for those who want to continue their historical tour, or else, look around the tunnels and grottoes that were built under the Dewstow Gardens & Grottoes (15 minutes) in the mid 20th century. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, get out to Abergavenny (35 minutes) and make your break into the mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park from there.
