What customers say
This gorgeous, natural spot has roomy, well-spaced sites with awesome river views & access. Folks loved the peace, friendly owners, and being near Hay-on-Wye. Hot showers & flushing loos were generally clean, but a bit far for some, and a few noted resident dogs & bin availability.

Great stay, huge pitches!
Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked Great site, toilets really clean although the hot water tap toilets are a little walk from pitch! Huge pitches, plenty of room and the site is on the river. We stayed 1 night for Hay festival and walked there in about 40 minutes via small county lanes.

Liked The owners are very welcoming and helpful. The site is well maintained. Large pitches are nicely spaced out with beautiful views over the river. Very relaxing. Just outside of Hay town, it's a 30-40 minute walk but there is a nice quiet route through some back lanes. We stayed during the Hay festival and it was ideal. We will be back.

Liked Fabulous location for visiting Hay on Wye and Hay Festival.
Quiet wild camping.
Friendly owners and full explanation of site and facilities on arrival. Followed owner to pitch which is great service.

If you don’t mind rustic and love peace, then you’ll be ok.
Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked I particularly liked the large pitch which was mown in a circular area, with paths mown through towards the toilets. I also liked that the pitches aren’t in a uniform layout, meaning that it doesn’t feel regimented. I was quite a way from other vans and I felt totally at ease, no catching of others conversations, or having to avoid contact.
Having been at Hay Festival all week what I needed was tranquility and I got it here.
It’s a short walk to the river, which I did do - very picturesque.
Warm was warm in showers and though rustic they were cleaned regularly and smelled pleasant.
Owner friendly, but not over the top, a friendly wave, quick chat.
Campsite is signposted off the main road, down a farm track and through gates into a yard.
Owner tells me that she’s v conscious of security so property very secure, it certainly felt it.
At times it was hard to believe a busy literary festival was only a couple of miles down the road. I cycled round the back lanes to avoid the main road.
Disliked A few times people cut through my pitch to save a bit of time walking to the toilet. This definitely felt like an invasion of privacy.
Maybe a sign up asking people not to do this and stick to the main route would help prevent this.
It’s a bit scruffy (but you soon see past that), don’t make any judgement til you’ve settled in.

Beautiful scenery, friendly hosts, but very noisy.
Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked - Really welcoming hosts
- Amazing scenery, the river is gorgeous, epic sunsets
- Near to Hay-on-Wye
- Easy to find
- Soft pitches with lots of space between
- Family-friendly
Disliked As a neurodivergent person who is highly senstitive to sound, I chose this place specifically because it was advertised as not allowing music. While I'm sure it's hard to go around enforcing this policy for every individual, both nights there were huge parties happening with extremely loud music until the early hours.
The family next to us also had a bluetooth speaker going and I had to ask them to stop, and they seemed completely unaware that it was advertised as a no-music site. Maybe a vocal reminder as folks arrive would be useful?
It can't be blamed on silly teens either. These were huge groups of middle-aged people with young kids. I don't understand why people would book a no-music site but turn up with the firm intention of pretending they're back in their nightclub days. The website makes it clear that stag-type parties aren't allowed, but maybe also make it clear that it's not suitable for the sort of people who reach for the volume knob after two glasses of warm box wine?
To be fair the vibe was positive and friendly despite being loud. And I could put earplugs in. But again, I specifically booked this place as a quiet site as I am highly noise-sensitive, and I would like to hear the river and the wind and the bats and the birds, instead of having to plug my ears entirely. I'm aware I sound like a miserable old **** but imagine the opposite. How disappointed would you be if you turned up to a nightclub ready to go wild and were told that they'd just be playing mellow nature sounds and TED talks?

Disliked The facilities are ok but need more regular cleaning . The distance from the river pitches to the toilets - although we were warned about that

Lovely natural, peaceful site but be wary if you are bringing your dog
Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked Beautiful rural and natural site, very peaceful with lovely countryside views, sunsets and wildlife over the river Wye. The owner was very pleasant. Great spot to chill out and walk into Hay on Wye through the fields.
Disliked Unfortunately the owner and her family have several small dogs that are very reactive towards other dogs(this is not a problem in itself). They are sometimes kept in crates at the reception area but when I walked through on two occasions with my dog they were loose and ran towards us barking aggressively. I ended up having to pick my dog up to protect her. It was very intimidating and unpleasant and the family had no control over their dogs. I feel this is unacceptable when it’s their business and they know campers will be walking by with their dogs. It did spoil our visit and makes me reluctant to return, which is a shame as it was otherwise a lovely campsite.
