  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views over Cardigan Bay
  • A 35-minute walk from New Quay; footpath to the Wales Coast Path
  • Shops and pubs in New Quay; playground and dog exercise area on site
Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

Liked Spacious pitches, peaceful setting with the most fantastic views out to sea.
We travelled as 2 families with 3 children aged 7, 2 x 10 year olds and 2 dogs.
We walked the picturesque coastal path to New Quay on one the days and its truly stunning, hard going in places for the kids but worth it for the views. This took us over an hour. We also walked into New Quay via the road which took us less than 30 mins and the same to get back, yes its hilly in places and yes its remote but worth it for the tranquility the site offers.
New Quay it self is a beautiful and very dog friendly. We also used the SeaMor boat company for our dolphin spotting trip, this was well worth the money, we had a wonderful time.
I agree with others, a little shop would be a gold mine, a bin in the washing up area would help, although some people have no camping etiquette 🤣 maybe an extra toilet/shower or 2 also but saying that we didnt really have to wait long for either.
£1 for 10 mins in the shower is plenty and we never used all of the time.
We have no complaints at all about the site and highly recommend.
We met the staff on the first day and saw them in passing a couple of times but they were friendly and welcoming and just let you enjoy your holiday.

Liked Was a nice spacious flat pitch with electric.
Toilet facilities were clean.

Disliked Paying for a shower. Long way to walk to get to a shop.. bit rural location.. shame there wasn't a shop on site or a burger/pizza/ breakfast van calling occasionally.

Liked Lovely site. Plenty spaces between pitches. Toilets and showers Lovely and clean. Beautiful view across Newquay from our pitch. Could watch sun set every evening. We saw owner every day who was really friendly making sure we were happy with everything. Need walking legs but we enjoyed walks along coastal path into town plus walk back up to site rom town is uphill but there's a pub on corner so can have a rest half way

Liked A lovely peaceful sight, in a gorgeous setting. Tents are assigned a specific pitch which has plenty of space with a central grass part for children to play so can be seen at all times. Sea views and no traffic noise at all. The hosts were extremely helpful and lent us an extension lead and also jump started our car on the last day when it wouldn't start. They also provided tips for walks in the area and down to the dolphin watch point. We never waited for a shower as previous reviews, you can just time it around quieter times. Proximity to New Quay and the coastal path is also great as you can leave the car behind. Would 100% recommend :)

Liked It's a nice place with a nice view.

Disliked I would like to leave a more positive feedback but unfortunately I cannot do that. It's a nice place but the owner is very rude with the customers, is watching you constantly and asked for extra money. He's not really a polite person.

From the manager: Utter nonsense we just cannot understand the spitefulness of this review after we were so very generous to this family.
First off reviewer caused damage to our property by cutting pitch marker posts thus enlarging their pitch size and erecting his tent over 2 pitches. He also booked and paid for 2 adults and sneaked in an extra 6 of his children (3 of whom, we allege, were of adult ages!) We very reasonably (stupidly on hindsight!) allowed him to leave his tent up where it was as it was, by then, fully erected. We even allowed the 6 additional persons to stay despite this being totally against our terms and conditions of occupancy. Of course, we did quite rightly, ask for additional payment for the additional persons! Wow! how can he expect to get away with bringing 8 people and only pay for 2!! Throughout we were extremely calm and polite-he has only tried the ‘rude owner’ tactic as a previous reviewer used this as a negative despite being completely untrue! We are actually pensioners and the stress of any kind of confrontation is detrimental to our health thus we avoid potential aggravation wherever we can and are NEVER rude or hostile back despite any untrue claims designed specifically to damage our reputation.
We bent over backwards to accommodate this family despite this mans, hostility, absolute deceit by trying to obtain services by deception -he should truly be thanking us and not leaving this dreadful review.
When time for him to leave, he actually had the audacity to ask to stay for an additional night! If we were so bad why would he want to stay on? His review marks every point ad a 1 out of 10 yet he tries to give credence to his claims by tactically softening the review by saying, to begin with, nice site etc-he needs to make his mind up.
We feel really stupid and taken advantage of. In hindsight, we should have asked him to leave immediately as would have any other owner-we are just too kind!
Campsite owners beware! There is no way of blacklisting campers on this site but further may be available on request.

Liked Well kept basic campsite with great size pitches, modern facilities block and absolutely stunning views. Family friendly and within easy reach of the coast path. Only half an hours walk from the nearest pub and about 45 minutes walk out of New Quay and from the beach. We will be back to this campsite when returning to the area as it was perfect for a couple with a dog who love walking.

Local attractions

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
