The site

  • Touring site at a classic country pub in the Wiltshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to the Kennet and Avon Canal; 25 minutes to Bath
  • Local ales and homecooked meals; large field for dogs to run free
Pull up to The Poplars for country walks and road trips, followed by local ales and home-cooked meals back at base. This touring site is in the grounds of a friendly traditional pub and should make a nice spot for a weekend trip or a longer rural retreat. With just a small number of pitches, it's a peaceful place surrounded by the Wiltshire countryside and within a half-hour drive of Bath and Stourhead. Arranged around the edge of a large field, the pitches have their own electric hook-up points. There is ample space to unwind; kids and dogs are welcome to run free in the field, and the pub also has an outdoor seating area. There is a bus stop opposite the site with a direct 10-minute connection to Bradford-on-Avon. Trowbridge, the county town of Wiltshire, is only a five-minute drive away too, should you fancy browsing its shops, cafés or supermarkets. While you're staying at this handy base, you might want to head out to the Kennet and Avon Canal for a peaceful walk or cycle past Dundas Aqueduct and scenic villages. Bath, 25 minutes’ drive away, also has a wide range of attractions including Roman baths, the Jane Austen Centre and Bath Abbey.

What customers say

Great pub grub & staff! Dogs love the big field. Road noise is a bummer near the busy road though. Facilities tied to pub hours might be a bit limiting. Manager's cleared up pitch info.

Liked Easy to find with spacious hard standing area & EHU. Access to water too. Toilets when pub is open, no obligation to eat in the pub, but we did & it was lovely, would definitely recommend. Staff very friendly & helpful too.

Disliked No elsan point which we did not realise - luckily we arrived with an empty toilet & we’re only here for one night but bear it in mind if you’re planning to stay here

Liked Lovely old pub on the outskirts of BOA, great food & friendly staff. Nice big field to let the dog run free & cute little village across the road. Best to be self contained as there is no showers & toilet only available when the pubs open.

Disliked There is a bus stop but dont count on getting 1 as its disused.

Liked everything in fact i was amazed how good it was, there was a little noise at closing time, but well within expected levels, we stopped in the pub for a meal, well all i can say is the chef better be well paid, the food was excellent, and they catered for my gluten intolerance, i believe the lady that served us was the owner, the care and attention she showed us was way higher level than most 5 star hotels we have stayed in. my wife and i will return im sure, meanwhile i wish them the greatest success.

Disliked only one downside, the signage was difficult to read at night, but maybe it was because i was tired.
