  • Peaceful and family-friendly woodland site in Dartmoor National Park
  • Dartmoor Whisky Distillery 10 minutes’ drive; Castle Drogo 15 minutes
  • Licensed restaurant and a shared kitchen; cookery courses available
When you’re looking to get back to nature, make a beeline for Wray Valley Camping, 25 minutes’ drive from Newton Abbot in Dartmoor National Park. Tucked into 10 acres of temperate rainforest within the Wray Valley, the pitches are surrounded by hay meadows, wildflowers and peaceful woodlands. Here you can soak up the tranquility of the countryside as you listen to the symphony of wildlife that calls this valley home, and gaze upon starry skies after dark. You’ll never be stuck for something to do. The site owners have devised sustainability and orienteering trails on the property, and bookable family-friendly experiences include campfire cookery or pizza making. They can also organise navigation training and guided walks across the national park. With direct access onto the Wray Valley Trail, the site is well located for hiking, climbing and cycling on Dartmoor. Anglers have a choice of Kennick, Trenchford and Tottiford reservoirs (all within 15 minutes’ drive) for fishing too. Spark up a barbecue, or cook simple camping meals for yourselves (you’ll need to bring your own gear) in the covered communal kitchen. Alternatively, abandon alfresco self-catering completely for the convenience of pre-booked breakfasts and evening meals in the site’s restaurant, where all the alcohol served is produced in Devon.
