Green Oven Barn keeps relaxation simple… very basic, this wild camping site is not just peaceful, but it’s also a bountiful place for wildlife, as it’s part of a six-acre rewilding and wildflower meadow. Beaches and river walks may very well form a slice of your stay here, as the site is six miles from the closest beach (there’s a nice optional walk there) and they run activities on site.
Whether it’s loosening limbs or clearing the mind, the site also runs activities (weather permitting) to help you unwind. These activities include yoga, but also qigong (a mix of meditation and martial arts), Shiatsu (a Japanese bodywork therapy incorporating acupressure and stretching) and bodywork activities.
Wild camping’s the way here, so there are no facilities other than a psychedelic-themed composting loo. So, do bring along whatever you think you’ll need, including water.
What wildlife might you see? Well, lizards, barn owls, birds and butterflies are a few of the resident beasties around the site. Due to the insects and wild food, dogs aren’t allowed. You’ll also find herbs growing around the site.
For mealtimes, Modbury (a characterful little market town) has a café and a pub for eating out. There are shops here too, so you’ll be able to grab any bits and pieces you need. Handily, this is all only 10 minutes’ walk or so away from the site.
