  • Exclusive use of a dog-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from Clovelly
  • Four-person bell tent and camping pitches for your group only
  • Dramatic walks nearby; 200 metres from the South West Coast Path
Looking for a peaceful place to stay in North Devon? Set less than a mile from Hartland Point on the Hartland Devon Heritage Coast, East Titchberry Camping is a small site surrounded by hedgerow trees, birdsong, a few farm animals and excellent dark night skies for viewing the stars. This is a glamping and camping experience where guests get exclusive use of a four-person bell tent and additional camping pitches for those bringing their own camping equipment (up to a maximum of 10 people on site in total). Dogs are welcome, as long as they're kept on a lead while on site; the owners have their own pets. Whether you’re travelling as a family, bringing pals or keeping it to just you and your significant other, East Titchberry Camping is an excellent option for exploring the coastline of North Devon. The site is just 200 metres from the South West Coast Path, and you're also free to wander around the farm, where there's a butterfly walk and a meadow recently set up by the National Trust. Hartland village is a 10-minute drive away, with a handful of pubs and a couple of general stores. The five-metre bell tent is placed on decking. It has one kingsize bed and two camp beds, as well as a table and seating, plus a gazebo kitchen with a camping gas cooker and all the bits and pieces necessary to whip up a meal. Prefer to cook your meals barbecue-style? No problem: a firepit and firewood are kindly provided, and when the last of the pans has been washed, you can linger around the fire to admire the spectacular night skies. In addition to a washing-up station, there’s a shower and two composting toilets.

Local attractions

There is a fee to enter Clovelly (15 minutes’ drive), but it’s well worth paying it to soak up the atmosphere of this traditional fishing village, which stretches along a cobbled street leading down to the water. Check out the Fisherman’s Cottage, which illustrates life in the village in the 1930s, or head to Clovelly Court Gardens, with Victorian greenhouses and splendid sea views. Some beaches in this area (such as nearby Shipload Bay) are so inaccessible that they can only be admired from the top of the cliff. If you’re after a day of swimming or surfing, the nearest beach is Hartland Quay (15 minutes), with rockpools and an observation deck. Trainspotters might not want to miss the chance to visit the Railway Heritage Centre in Bideford (half an hour), while wildlife enthusiasts can catch a boat to Lundy Island, where they might spot puffins and other birds, as well as seals and dolphins.
