  • Quiet adults-only site in the Kent Downs National Landscape
  • North Downs Way 10 minutes’ walk; Folkestone 20 minutes’ drive
  • Three pubs, a vineyard and fishing lake all within walking distance
If you like to be surrounded by stunning natural views, then family-run Horton View Farm is the place for you. Five minutes’ drive away from the Kent villages of Stowting and Brabourne, this adults-only site is set on a quiet lane with views across to the hills and valleys of the Kent Downs National Landscape. There are scenic walks from the gate of the camping meadow, as well as spectacular sunrises and sunsets and dark skies filled with shimmering stars on clear nights. Approached by neatly mown paths through the wild meadow, each tent has its own firepit, and logs are available to purchase from the site. It’s mostly off-grid (so bring your own torches), but it does have flushing toilets and hot showers, a fridge and a freezer for guests to use, and an open barn with a social area where you can relax and take in the stunning landscape. A vineyard, several pubs and a fishing lake are within half an hour’s walk of the site along quiet lanes and footpaths, so leave the car behind if you choose. The very nearest pub is just five minutes’ stroll away, and if good local produce is your thing, there are exceptional farm shops, bakeries and farmers’ markets throughout the area.

What customers say

Reviewers love this adult-only, peaceful site for its spotless facilities, great views, and super-friendly hosts, Jo and Dave. Spacious pitches offer privacy. The barn has a fridge/freezer and kettle. Ideal for walks, pubs, and a vineyard. Minor points were hard ground and patchy signal (mallet now provided). Car-free meadow adds to the peace.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Amazing facilities, really clean and well thought out. The communal Barn area is such a lovely touch, a nice cool retreat from the hot sun where you can sit and relax, play games or read (a variety of which have been provided for by the hosts). A kettle and fridge/freezer has also been provided for communal use. Surroundings/scenery are beautiful. Such a wonderfully relaxing site. No parking on the pitch is allowed, however, parking is just a short walk away and trolleys and wheelbarrows have been provided to easily transport items from car to pitch. Jo and Dave were so friendly and welcoming, they really have thought of everything to ensure a fantastic stay. We had such an amazing time camping here and will definitely be returning!

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked This campsite is fantastic. Its in a peaceful meadow with amazing views and plenty of space between the pitches. The site itself is down a quite lane with 3 nice pubs in the area and loads of public footpaths. We walked to 2 of the pubs and only came across 1 car, all the way i could just hear sheep and birds singing. saw lots of butterflies and bats. The toilet, shower and washing up facilities were imaculate, bins regularly empied and also they had good recyling and environmentally friendly products. Nice communal area with fridge, kettle and phone charging so we could get some shade with our dog. you could see the sunset and moon clearly right outside tent. lots of nice touches with plants dotted around. The owners were super friendly and you can tell that take pride in there campsite and righly so! Highly recommend x

Liked Jo and Dave were fantastic hosts. The site was equipped so thoughtfully and had so many little details that went a long way. We particularly loved the hand plotted maps from the campsite varying in length. We cannot wait to come and stay here again; we cannot recommend highly enough. Very welcoming of our German Shepherd too!

Aras B. 1 review

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Loved our stay and will definitely be coming back. The campsite was clean, well laid out, with beautiful views of the hills, and very quiet- especially for people like us who want to get away from the crowds and noise.

The host was welcoming and gave us a quick tour, showing us where everything was. The toilets and showers were well maintained and clean (one of the best I've seen, better than some hotels I've stayed in lol). There was a washing-up area with hot water and clean drinking water, a large fridge-freezer for perishables, a charging area with 4–5 available sockets, and a social area with board games. There was also a folder of printed maps showing the locations of nearby pubs, restaurants, and walking routes, as well as menus from those pubs displayed on the wall.

The pitches were nicely spaced out, with plenty of room between them. Our pitch was more than big enough for our small two-person tent and would easily accommodate larger tents. Parking was in a separate car park rather than next to the pitch, but it was only around 50–100 yards away, and carts/wheelbarrows were provided for transporting your gear.

The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for: peaceful and quiet. The only sounds we heard during our stay were the gentle chirping of crickets and the distant baaing of sheep. The views across the surrounding meadows and rolling hills were beautiful and there was very little light pollution at night.

Our stay was quite short here, just for 1 night as we are still trying out camping, but so far this has been our favourite spot. 10/10 would go again.

Disliked Not really as much as dislikes, but more of notes.
The ground was a bit hard where we put the tent, so bringing a mallet for driving the tent pegs would be recommended, but I, with a bit of persuasion managed to drive them in by hand.
There was no Wi-Fi and mobile signal was patchy at times, but it wasn't a big issue for us as we went here to distance ourselves from technology

From the manager: We really appreciate you taking the time to write such an amazing review Aras. It really does mean a lot to know that you enjoyed so many things about the site and the area. We are really glad to hear that you has such a positive experience while you are trying out camping.
Sorry to hear you struggled to get the pegs in, the ground is so hard at the moment. Your helpful comment has given us the idea to leave a heavier mallet in the communal area for people to borrow if they struggle with the hard ground.
Thanks again for your review, we hope you can come and stay with us again.

Jade C. 1 review

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked You should have no hesitation in booking this campsite. Jo and Dave are the most welcoming and accommodating hosts, and they’ve created a truly beautiful place to stay.

The campsite is stunning and thoughtfully designed, with spacious pitches nestled into the meadow that feel wonderfully private. The views are incredible, especially at sunset, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The facilities are spotless and never felt overcrowded. The communal barn is a fantastic addition, with a fridge/freezer, kettle, blankets, and other thoughtful touches that make your stay even more comfortable.

The site itself is lovely enough that you could happily spend all your time there, but the location is an added bonus. We enjoyed a 30 minute walk to a fantastic independent winery, where we spent the afternoon enjoying a few glasses of wine before strolling back.

We’re already recommending this campsite to friends and family and can’t wait to return ourselves.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Really fantastic campsite. The site is small only around 10 well spaced pitches with a few permanent bell tents. It has a great balance of conveniences, fire pits, fridge, washing facilities, while also being simplistic. The owners clearly really care about the campsite and the campers. I would, and have, recommend to a friend.
