Camping pod (no pets)

Liked We stayed in a camping pod for two nights with my two children (5years and under)
We had an absolutely brilliant time!
The location of the pods was great, the toilets/showers were right next door and they were really clean, no issues whatsoever.
The staff were great and really friendly with entertainment and games on both evenings. The pool was good too, again nice and clean.
The only fault I had was there was no food or shop on site, however there is a premier shop around the corner, an Aldi 5 minutes down the road and plenty of local restaurants and takeaway options.

Don't let the previous bad reviews put you off booking, it's a fantastic place!

We will definitely be back :)

Disliked No running water in the camping pods - However washing up sinks were across the road located at the toilets.

No options for food.

What customers say

Site's getting a spruce-up! Bar and clubhouse looking good. Staff, entertainment team, pool, burger van, shop and views get rave reviews. Some touring pitches/facilities need a bit more TLC, and it can get busy with some noise. Many keen to come back!

Camping pod (no pets, private bathroom amenities)

Liked Lovely friendly site, great staff, especially jackie from housekeeping who made a fantastic job of our pod. The site is getting refurbed so work going on. . Great club, arcade, swimming, little shop that served food as well as usual stuff. Burger van open main eating times, good prices.
Short walk to longridge.

Disliked Few problems with accomodation, but reception quickly sorted it out. Very nice staff.

Liked We had a good pitch thanks to the the lovely staff member that put us on an extra large pitch even though we could only book a large one on pitch up, all the staff we lovely
Loved the views

Disliked Both ladies and gents toilets were dirty, with only one soap dispenser working and little toilet paper in the gents with faeces marks in most of the toilets, 3 beer cans were on the fire extinguisher (these weren't cleaned in the 3 days we were there) ladies were on the day we left. There was no way of turning the temperature down on the showers it was very hot, in the bar they had very little choice, even giving us non alcoholic beer as they had run out of the normal without asking if we wanted it, no straws for the slush they gave me a spoon. The outdoor play area was all overgrown and locked. The swimming pool was an additional cost of £4 child and £6 adults for the day, I asked reception if they could come and go throughout the day and was told yes but when they went back after their lunch only having been in an hour beforehand they were told they would have to pay again, the bin stores were a disgrace with stuff thrown anywhere on the floor. The taps in the toilets were dangerously hot (no cold taps) my granddaughter couldn't put her hands under to wash them, as someone who has been using this site for over 20 years on and off we were very disappointed with the overall state of the place, we couldn't get any WiFi near our pitch, and kept buffering in the bar area (had to use my own data) the staff kept using the excuse that it had been a very busy weekend as to why there was no beer but there shouldn't be any excuse for cleanliness

Liked Had a lot of potential to be a fabulous holiday park!

Nice shop and bar with gorgeous view

Disliked Touring plots ridiculously close - I was told by a fireman on site illegal. If one van caught light they’d all go!

Hard standing pitches tiny no grass area.

On arrival allocated a pitch but told ‘hopefully it will be free, people tend to pick there own when they don’t like theirs’ pitch was taken by another visitor and told to find a space.

Swimming pool looked good - didn’t use.

Playground & crazy golf - closed. Disappointing.

Soft play free for all and dirty.

Showers hotter than the sun - not always clean and toilets never had toilet roll.

Electric out of credit.

Loud campers but probably wouldn’t have been as bad had the pitches been far enough apart.

Greedy to put so many pitches in such a small area.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you had some issues with your stay. With regards to the pitches, we do indeed have gravel pitches here at Beacon fell, I am sorry if this was unclear upon making your booking. All of our touring pitches are fitted with mains electric hook ups and do not require credit of any sort so we are unsure how this may have occurred. Our Play Park is indeed closed as this is under construction and due to be redeveloped shortly. With regards to our mini golf course, this is located next to the reception building and opens 9am - 5pm as the clubs and golf balls are collected from reception, we are sorry if this was unclear.
With regards to the issues you have raised about the toilets and pitch allocation, we are sorry for any frustration this may have caused during your stay, and we will be raising this with the relevant departments to ensure this does not happen again.

Liked We really enjoyed our visit, second time we have been and will definitely return. Plenty to do and the grounds and buildings are well maintained. We will
Definitely be returning.

Disliked The only thing for us was the problem with the toilets blocking up. My partner went to use the toilet this morning and all the toilets were backed up.
The entertainment music was very very loud and we struggled to enjoy the night and actually left and went back to the caravan.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
