  • Family-friendly camping on a Lake District ice cream farm
  • Coniston Water and Lake Windermere 15 minutes' drive
  • Shire horse experiences available; fresh farm produce for sale
Did somebody say ice cream? Come and camp at Old Hall Farm, a working dairy in the southern Lake District where a herd of gorgeous Jersey cows help make a range of creamy farm-made goodies. This family-friendly site is on the outskirts of the quiet village of Bouth, a few minutes' walk from a local pub and kids' play area. Coniston Water and Lake Windermere can both be reached within a 15-minute drive, while the ever-popular Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway is two miles down the road. Old Hall Farm has spacious grass pitches with views over the village and surrounding countryside. There's a small pond on site and lots of green space, with facilities that include a well-maintained toilet block. Fresh farm produce is also available for sale, including tasty free-range eggs for your breakfast. As well as its Jersey herd and happy hens, Old Hall Farm has five gorgeous Shire horses. Come and meet them on one of the farm's bookable Shire horse experiences (speak to site staff directly for booking and details). After a stint in the saddle, keep on rambling by heading to the ancient woodlands at the bottom of the farm, or challenge yourself to a bracing hike up the Old Man of Coniston (20 minutes' drive).
