Quiet and leafy location

  • Peaceful and leafy hideaway at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • Skegness 25 minutes’ drive; RSPB Frampton Marsh half an hour
  • Fishing lake and games field; modern showers and food-prep area
As if you didn’t know it already, the spectacular Lincolnshire Wolds are a haven for walkers, handy for lots of family days out and within 25 minutes’ drive of east-coast beach resorts. And when you book a stay at Wood Farm Camping, tucked into the foot of the wolds and five minutes’ drive from Stickney, you get access to all of the above plus a hefty slice of rural peace. This welcoming, family-run site spans nine leafy acres and has a serene waterside setting with all the pitches just paces from a tree-lined fishing lake. Thanks to minimal light pollution, the skies come alive on clear nights, making evenings by the shared firepit quite simply magical. Anglers, there’s a designated fridge for storing your fishing bait, and you can cast your line for free on the lake. Dogs are very welcome on site, and you’ll have no problem exercising them on riverside yomps or though the surrounding woodland, with many more walks across the wolds. You can also stay active playing cricket or football on the site’s games field. Handy practical amenities include spotless modern showers with hot and cold running water, fresh drinking water, a communal microwave, a utility sink for food prep and a camper’s fridge for storage.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Peaceful, quiet campsite. Limited number of pitches created a really relaxed and calm environment. The host/site manager was incredibly helpful and engaging. The toilet and shower was very clean (one or two more would be handy but not essential) and the washing kitchen facility was great. A really lovely little campsite to escape the world for some peace and quiet!

Unpowered grass tent site (maximum 6-berth)

Liked Beautiful scenery, fishing pond well maintained, facilities were absolutely spotless. Warm welcome from the owner and his lovely friendly family. The campfire pack for sale for £15 was a great touch. They also have local honey and fresh eggs for sale. We had a lovely relaxing break and would definitely recommend.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Lovely setting, good location as 1/2 to Skegness and 1 hour to Lincoln.
The fishing was free if you where staying as a guest which is great as buying a day pass is a waste for just a couple of hours, which we have done in previous locations. The park manager Tim and his family are lovely, really friendly and definitely go the extra mile to help. We had a lovely stay and would definitely go back. Toilet where spotless. I didn't use the shower as I used the caravan one so I cant comment on it.

Disliked Nothing to dislike about the site, however just be aware that coming from Louth way the entrance is right on the bend not after the bend. Coming from Boston it was easier. We missed it and had to turn the caravan round in a fam driveway.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel caravan site

Liked The site is run by a lovely family who made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived—nothing was ever too much trouble. The pitches are a great size and set around a charming fishing and duck pond, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. We especially enjoyed watching the ducks’ antics and the family of coots. It’s also very dog-friendly, with a dedicated off-lead dog walk on site, which was a real bonus. The on-site facilities were spotless and thoughtfully designed, making our stay even more comfortable.

Disliked Nothing!

Fully-serviced grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Sue showed me to my pitch with a friendly, chatty welcome. It's a delightful site, I had a lovely cosy , quiet pitch under the trees overlooking the pretty pond. The large field is perfect to let dogs run free as well as the walk around the outside of the campsite. I loved the little touches with the quirky seating areas dotted about on the grassy areas, where you can watch the beautiful white ducks in and out of the pond. The washing up area with a little kitchenette is also a nice touch. Good modern clean facilities. Myself and my dog really enjoyed our stay !

Local attractions

If you’re fancying a day at the seaside, then Skegness (25 minutes’ drive) may well be your first choice; it’s known for its family-friendly amusement arcades, summer entertainment along the pier and the boating lake. Still on the coast, you can go birdwatching at RSPB Frampton Marsh (half an hour), or come back inland to navigate the waterways on hire boats from the Sluice Bridge in Boston (20 minutes). You can see frolicking seals at Natureland Seal Sanctuary, and if the kids demand more action, Fantasy Island amusement park (both half an hour) will keep them busy on rollercoasters or dodgems all day long. More ideas for kid-friendly days out include Arctic fox feeding sessions at ARK Wildlife and Dinosaur Park Stickney (five minutes), or close encounters with big cats at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (15 minutes). Heritage hunters can get up close to historic aircraft and learn about their heroic past at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, while local landmark Maud Foster Mill (both 20 minutes) is a carefully restored mill with a shop selling the flour that’s produced there.
