Liked What a fabulous site! Peaceful, tranquil, beautiful views, lots of space to enjoy and to top it Jeff! Great guy. Friendly, so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Think we saw him rush off and find a replacement tent for some campers. Simple, so don’t go if you don’t really like real camping. We booked but could have turned up and pitched up no trouble.

Liked Fabulous site. Clean, tidy, well spaced out with good sized pitches. Great location for walking from site with access to moors. Beautiful scenery.

Disliked The fact that they closed all facilities for 2 1/4 hrs each day for cleaning. In my opinion that’s too long and they need to find a solution so that at least a toilet is available to use.

From the manager: Thanks for leaving a review of your stay on our site. We do advertise that we close for 2 hours each day, to coincide with departures and arrivals and to allow our staff to clean uninterrupted. The layout of our building doesn't allow us to open part and keep the rest closed. We just find it easier and safer for you and our staff and we have public toilets in the village and at Kirkbymoorside if needed. Sorry if it didn't suit your needs. Glad you liked the pitches and the lovely village - it really is beautiful isn't it?!

Liked Showers/facilities, pool. Ok pitch.

Disliked Food in bar was undercooked. Very central location, busy traffic. No shop for basic provisions.

Liked Beautiful location although closer to the A66 than I had thought. Therefore some road noise. Views stunning. Noticed what looked like a good walk from site up hillside behind. Cafe only short distance from site but as this was closed we didn’t use it.

Disliked Facilities very basic. 2 toilets, 1 shower. Risk pitching on sloping ground if flat pitches taken. We did go in the winter so as expected it was muddy. Poor phone signal.

Liked Excellent facilities. Clean, well-maintained loos/showers. Fabulous cafe/bar and useful little shop. Would suggest ringing if you want a choice of pitch. Standard pitches are fine, larger ones available and it’s good to be given the choice. Great value for money. Pleasant, friendly staff. Would definitely recommend but given we didn’t have kids we’re unlikely to go during school holidays. Bet kids love it there!

Disliked Not a dislike but loos with no sink to wash hands meaning you then go into a shower room. Maybe we didn’t find all facilities 🤷‍♀️

Liked Camper van pitch. Immaculate site. Beautifully kept. Some of the static vans had incredible gardens. New loos/showers. Extremely clean. Well laid out. Spar shop just off site. Long stretches of beautiful sandy beaches across the road. Fantastic for dogs (turn right only for stretch of beach where dogs are allowed). But beware of black mudflats! Pretty mucky if you walk into one (as we did) but can be avoided. Not for swimming or kids really. Tide goes along way out and risk of soft mud makes paddling etc not great. Staff friendly and helpful.

Disliked The tea room is lovely but needs the same attention as the rest of the park. Not staffed …. understandable when quiet, and a bell gets you service when needed. However apparent that no one focused on keeping supplies fresh etc as offered only white packet bread, no eggs (to go with our bacon butty), and no alternative teas. A shame because it’s a lovely place to sit. Easy to rectify and didn’t detract from our really positive experience on this site.

Liked Superb location right on the coast with access to a stunning beach which our dogs just loved. We were very fortunate to have fantastic weather meaning the whole camping experience was relaxing and enjoyable. Walks from nearby locations were beautiful, woodland, reedbeds, wetlands or coast!! Clean, tidy campsite. Friendly staff. We benefited from having the entire camping field to ourselves!

Disliked You can hear the road from the tent field and during high season I can imagine it being quite busy with only 4/5 loos and 3 washing-up sinks in tent field.

Liked Quiet site. Great facilities, showers hot/powerful and private washrooms. Clean and well kept. Serves limited range of food, pizza, panini etc, at on-site eatery with both outdoor or under-cover eating area. Didn't use the small pool as only stayed for single night (twice) on our way to South and on way back again so well located for stop-over if arriving or leaving Calais - about 3.5-4 hr drive. Food on site was quite expensive, €8 for a pizza, and accommodation in rental tent €40 per night which again isn't cheap but convenient way of breaking up journey and not having to erect own tent. However the rental tents are quite tired looking and in need of a spruce up or replacement. The Dutch owner took us by surprise a bit on our 2nd stop over by advising us that the tent 'isn't a hotel and shouldn't be treated as such'. The message was that the tent must be left as we found it which in itself isn't an issue for us other than the fact that the tent isn't that great (laminate flooring marked by damp, and scuffed at the edges, with the canvas having seen better days). We felt a bit put out by his tone and the inspection that has to take place before you're allowed to leave! Reminded me of being on school camp! The nearby lake is beautiful and a fantastic place to walk (dog loved it although dogs are not allowed on the lake beach). Great evening watching World Cup final with the French especially given their victory!

From the manager: dear Alison, We are very surprised by your referencee. You came very late the first time and very early the second time and I think taht you were very weel welcomed by us or not ? The swimmingpool is not small, it is a small campsite and the swimmongpool has a good size for us. You didn't use it, but if you had the time ti use it, you will notice it was not too small... If you find a snack with a fresh pizza 33 cm cheaper tha 8 euros, give me the adress please... You do not precise that the sanitaire is renovated and beuatiful with a zen decoration. Everybody is very satisfied with it. You are right, the tent are not new. We have new tent but the dogs are not allowed in tyje new tents....At your departure you said you will maybe come back... .We had a very good feeling with you.. That is why we are very surprised with your referencee. If you had stay a couple of days you would surely had a better impression. We hope to see you again....Next time tell us directly what you think; laetitia & remond

Liked A lovely small site, but with lots of space, great sized pitches and excellent facilities. The site manager was so helpful and despite the language barrier (not much in either side!) we managed with internet translation. Nothing fancy about this campsite but perfect if you're looking for a simple, quiet, and friendly location. Nearby Plages (Demoiselles - no dogs on beach but great long promenade to stroll along with cafes and bars, then Davière which allows dogs (!!) is really quiet and has fabulous parking. Given many French beaches do not allow dogs the ones along this stretch of coast were a real find. Also visited Barbatre a bit further up the coast (out on a peninsula). Great place to go. Great Super U very conveniently located nearby. Great communal facilities (bbq, picnic benches, small marquee) and trampoline for the kids all set away from the tent area.

Disliked The site did start to fill up as we left so would probably avoid school holidays if we went again.

Liked Everything. The location is fantastic. Peaceful, tranquil and if you're after a quiet relaxing break then this campsite delivers in every way. Bruno and family are charming, helpful and very attentive when needed. The site has everything we look for, grass pitch (the grass could do with a cut maybe but it didn't really matter), views, space, shade, sun, excellent showers - hot and powerful, clean washing and washing up facilities and a washing machine - with no queue to use any of it. Love it here and can't recommend it highly enough. Signage is a little hidden. Don't pull into the field off the main road (as we did) thinking it was the right site! We nearly drove back to England!!! Keep an eye out for four white posts (red reflectors) and a small green sign saying Bachoc. Easily missed.

Liked Pitch size, layout, wonderful shower block - clean and warm. Good shop, lovely fresh bread. Great location.

Disliked Shower - very little flow of water but hot enough.
