Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (XL)
Liked Absolutely loved our stay at Stoney Acres for our anniversary weekend. From the moment we arrived, the owners were incredibly welcoming and the complimentary hot drinks and biscuits were such a lovely touch.
The site is beautifully maintained, peaceful, adults only and dog friendly, with spacious, fully serviced and — importantly — level pitches! 😂 The facilities were spotless and had everything we needed, including laundry facilities and a dog wash. The showers deserve a special mention too — by far the best showers we’ve come across on any site we’ve stayed at! Spacious, spotless and genuinely better than you expect from campsite facilities.
It’s the little touches that really make Stoney Acres stand out though, from the cosy library and lawn games to the thoughtful extras provided in the shower rooms. You can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into making the site somewhere guests can properly relax and enjoy their stay.
The owners also went above and beyond after we accidentally left our hosepipe connector behind. We contacted them after leaving and they happily posted it back to us. Brilliant customer service and a genuinely lovely site that we’ll absolutely be returning to. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Disliked The only thing to be aware of is some noise from the nearby quarry during the week. This is completely outside of the site’s control and wouldn’t stop us returning, but it’s worth bearing in mind if you’re looking for complete peace and quiet on weekdays. The weekend itself was beautifully peaceful.

Badger electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (large)
Liked We really enjoyed the location — it’s great for exploring, and Chester is only around a 20-minute drive with everything you could possibly need.
The small shop next door is handy too, selling a bit of everything for those little forgotten items.
The managers were genuinely lovely. They’ve only been there since November if i remember correctly, but were open, helpful and clearly passionate about improving the site. We were also told about the future plans, and if everything goes ahead, this could become an incredible place to stay.
Disliked When we booked, the site was advertised as having 16-amp electric, but on arrival we were told it had been reduced to 10-amp without prior notice, and we were asked to use gas for heating. This did leave us feeling a bit disappointed at the start of our stay.
The power tripped at least twice each night, which became disruptive. Hopefully this is something that will be addressed as part of the planned upgrades.
The shower and toilet block feels more like a temporary building, with limited facilities (one toilet in the gents, two urinals and three showers), and the toilet door doesn’t close properly.
The shower/toilet area is also very cold — there’s a radiator, but it hasn’t been on during our stay. In winter, it means you’re rushing instead of being able to relax.
The “hardstanding” pitches are more like flattened rubble, and the constantly locked gates and coded doors can feel inconvenient, especially with the stiff toilet block door.
Despite this, the site clearly has potential and we really hope the planned improvements come soon.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch
Liked One of the highlights of Hadley Park is its dog-friendly environment. The site offers a freedom field with agility apparatus and another fenced area near the café, perfect for letting dogs roam. 🐾 The location itself is beautiful, conveniently situated next to the canal, providing lovely evening walks that were truly a delight.
The facilities were generally well-maintained, with clean toilets and lovely warm showers for a comfortable experience. I also had a wonderful surprise at the on-site café, where we enjoyed their ciabattas, which were fantastic. The staff were lovely and welcoming, creating a nice atmosphere to relax.
Disliked On the downside, our check-in experience was somewhat confusing. Upon arrival, we found that the "reception" was actually a café, and after confirming our payment, we were told to "just find our pitch," which felt a bit disorganized.
While the pitches were spacious and flat, the hardstanding was disappointing, resembling a mix of hardcore and broken tiles that definitely needs improvement. Additionally, there was quite noticeable road noise, which, while not too disruptive, was still a factor to consider.
An unfortunate incident occurred when one of the seasonal caravan owners emptied his catheter on the empty pitch in front of him. This was utterly disgusting and detracted from the overall experience.
