If being very close to the coast is a top priority on a Spanish holiday, you'll be pleased with the blue waters and stunning surf of Loredo, a quiet sandy beach over a kilometre long in Cantabria's Costa de Trasmiera. And right on the beachfront is Camping Derby Loredo, a Spanish seaside site with direct access to the beach via a private path and – perhaps most excitingly of all – its own surf school with classes and equipment hire. After working up an appetite on your board, head back to base and to the site's café-bar or restaurant, where there is a large terrace for outdoor meals and drinks. A kids' play area is on hand for the little ones, and well-behaved pets will find a warm welcome at Camping Derby Loredo too. A handful of Loredo bars and eateries can be reached within a 10-minute walk, while just to the west in the slightly larger town of Somo there are also supermarkets that can help with self-catering stays. For travels further afield, Camping Derby Loredo is a smart pick, as the site is located under half an hour's drive from central Santander and its ferry port.

Disliked: Die Sanitäranlagen sind eine Katastrophe ich habe Gott Sei Dank noch die Bewertungen gelesen wir haben Wasser für unser Wohnmobil sowohl noch am vorigen Campingplatz geduscht es ist sehr schmutzig das Wasser in den Duschen ist kalt und das Wasser kommt schon aus der Wand so etwas habe ich noch nie gesehen

Disliked: Showers were cold
Tiny and lack of pitches for Motorhomes and caravans
Bar and restaurant closed but the was told they’d be open
Pissed up youngsters playing music, playing football and shouting till late at night
People were turning up to camp to stay after 11pm with noisy dogs
Looks like a Shanti town

Liked: Camp was well kept, very close to a beautiful beach, facilities were well kept, reception staff were very helpful and accommodating, showers were lovely and they were clean,

Disliked: Limited space for a motorhome ours is 7.5m long

Liked: La ubicación. Es lo mejor del
Camping. Por no decir lo único bueno.

Disliked: El bungalow, viejo, mal cuidado.
Siendo para 4 tenía tres sillas. El microondas no funcionaba y tardaron un día en cambiarlo, muy pocos utensilios de cocina, una cafetera minúscula, dos tazas.

La cerradura no funcionaba.

Liked: We had a lovely spot on the corner so felt quite private. Looks like a lot of people live there full time. Facilities are spotless clean but a bit dated. Only one hot shower but very hot and fast.
In a good position for the beach, and little town, with butchers green grocer, small super markets and bars

Liked: This campsite is in a good location right next to the beach. But otherwise it’s really not good. The site is very run down, the toilets and showers are dirty . Ok I suppose for a one night stop over. I would not recommend staying any longer than one night .

Disliked: Toilet block no hot water and generally dirty. Pitches are very basic and rough and ready.

Liked: Were it is over looking a beautiful beach

Disliked: Very small pitch we have a 7 meter caravan and it was tight to get it on the pitch. Also there was no water on the site for caravans only as you came on the site for motor homes. There was supposed to be a restaurant and shop on site but both were closed and we were there on 11th May

Liked: Lovely site near beautiful beaches. The hosts were super helpful and friendly. Hot water in the showers. You can walk to Somo and get the ferry to Santander for the day.

Local attractions

From its roots as a small farming community, Loredo has grown to a popular Spanish seaside resort and these days is a well-kept village with shops, several restaurants and a supermarket. Somo, also a seaside resort and also with a surf school, is a short drive or leisurely walk away at less than three kilometres. If you're off to the smashing bay of Santander, the ferry terminal is about 25 minutes' drive from Camping Derby Loredo; if you're staying closer to home, the Dunas del Puntal y Estuario del Miera coastal park is about 3km from base. Sailing, canoeing, golf, horse riding and other activities are available nearby. Twenty-five kilometres from the site, Cabárceno Park, a wildlife park in a former iron mine in the town of Cabárceno, is well worth a day trip.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.

In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

General

Reception

Reception is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. between 15/01 and 14/07 and between 01/09 and 15/12.

General

Refunds within the indicated cancellation period are only possible if the site is able to relet your unit/pitch.
