A sandy beach within half an hour’s drive and a gorgeous national park with islands and lagoons just to the north – like the sound of that? Take some time out at Prima Camping Resort Boddenblick in Vorpommern-Rügen, just south of the extensive Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. This stunning national park landscape is popular for birdwatching, cycling and island-hopping around the likes of Barther Bodden, Bodstedter Bodden, Zingster Strom and Hiddensee. Catch the ferry in Barth, 15 minutes’ drive away, to start exploring. As if that isn’t splendid enough, a long sandy beach is a 30-minute drive from Prima Camping Resort Boddenblick for dips in the Baltic sea whenever you please. The resort is also a good base for getting out onto the Baltic Sea Cycle Route, which is within a five-minute drive or 10-minute cycle of the resort. There is access to the A19 in Bentwisch, around 50 minutes’ drive away, for day trips further afield. After checking into the resort through an app (how handy), you might want to check out Prima Camping Resort Boddenblick’s facilities, which include cycle hire, a fitness centre, play area, sauna and an outdoor swimming pool. All of those will build your appetite, so handily, there is also a restaurant on site.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: Einfache Buchung, Check-In online, großer Stellplatz, dadurch steht man nicht so steht beim Nachbarn. Hunde sind erlaubt. Der Campingplatz liegt in toller Natur. Man kann viel Spazieren gehen, aber auch zum Meer fahren. Saubere WC-/Duscheinrichtungen, Benutzung der Duschen ohne Marke. Check-Out online. Wir kommen wieder.

Local attractions

If you’re a novice birdwatcher, you might be wondering where on earth to start in the birdwatching haven Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. Bookmark Kranorama (five minutes’ drive), an observation platform where you have good chances of spotting the notoriously long-necked crane. And where to start with exploring the local towns? You could begin in Barth (15 minutes), where boats can be hired to go out on the lagoon on your own steam. A couple of museums, a theatre and an art gallery should also fill out your day. Swing by the Hanseatic town of Stralsund (25 minutes) next, where the red-brick Old Town has a 13th-century town hall and the aquarium houses fish from the Baltic Sea and penguins (from much further away, of course). Ralswiek (45 minutes) is home to the annual open-air Störtebeker Festival, and just a little further afield, Rostock (an hour) is a very popular city with all sorts of attractions, from botanical gardens to a cobbled main square and St. Mary’s Church. It’s on the Warnow river, which means it's also got activities like sunset sails.
