What customers say

Lovely riverside pitches on the Dordogne, praised for friendly owners, kayak hire, and pool. Daily fresh bread. Some find the basic but clean loos need an upgrade, though the location and scenery are a big hit.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The pitches are a great size with tree converage so you have some shade. You pick your own pitch and when we arrive there were plenty of choices however, unfortunately not any directly by the river.

The campsite has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with families, couples and singles all having a lovely time.

It is right on the dordogne river with great kayaking from the site

There is a lovely swimming pool on site that the kids played in a lot with a small playground next to it. There are a couple of ping pong tables on site as well.

The showers and toilets are plentiful and kept clean.

A small bar on site as well as the ability to hire kayaks.

Disliked Although clean and warm the showers and toilets were basic and open to bugs. But they were not infested just the odd one. Wouldn’t say it’s a huge negative.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked You couldn’t be closer to the river . Literally pitched on the bank. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Large flat pitches, unfussy organisation. Great little pool and a centre for kayaking.

Local attractions

The old riverside town of Argentat, five minutes' drive away, is a highlight of this part of the Dordogne, with medieval houses leading down to the river, alongside swisher old piles like the 15th-century Manoir de l'Eyrial. Pick up a leaflet in the Argentat tourist office to point your curious self in an appropriate direction: a hugely recommended wander is along the riverbank to the cafés and river scenes of the 19th-century quai area. After that, cross the bridge to go back into town, stopping off at one of the restaurants for a waterside dinner. More watery days out are easily sorted via canoeing in the Dordogne gorges, accessible 20 minutes' drive away, or by taking a gabare (or traditional river boat) ride at Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne (also 20 minutes). Beaulieu's also well worth a day trip in itself, for yet more riverside walks and old houses as well as a handsome old centre around the village square and a lively market every Wednesday morning. Department capital Tulle, home to an international lace festival, the Museum of the Resistance and Deportation, and a medieval and riverside cathedral, is 35 minutes away.
