Lovely, peaceful Jura site with great views & pitches. Friendly staff, clean facilities & a good pool praised. Kids' activities & meal pre-orders a bonus. Ideal for exploring local attractions & stargazing. However, some noted cleanliness issues, poor Wi-Fi & lack of a proper bar. Booking mix-ups & unwelcoming staff were also mentioned.

Microlight flights, canoe rental, that summer circus school and horse riding lessons are all available near the site, along with fishing, canoeing and mountain biking around the waters of the Ain river. The famed expanse of Lac de Chalain is around five kilometres from Camping Sous Doriat. It's a popular place for activities on and around the water, including more fishing, canoeing and mountain biking, and circular lakeside hikes such as one taking you up to the Fontenu viewpoint for a spectacular vista over the area's four lakes. Look out just under the water for the well-reserved remains of the area's stilt houses, dating back over 3,000 years. Within easy day trip distance, drive along to the Baume-les-Messieur caves (17 kilometres or 20 minutes' drive), the Hérisson Falls, and the Arbois vineyards, both within 30-40 minutes, and the UNESCO-listed Salins-les-Bains saltworks, 35 minutes' drive away.
