- 44-acre dog-friendly destination where the outback meets the tropics
- A five-minute drive from the Katherine Hot Springs
- Swimming pool and spa; a restaurant a short walk away
Twice the size of Victoria, the Katherine region has a lot of stuff for you to explore – so you’re going to want a nifty base indeed. And nifty BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Katherine sure is… it’s on the outskirts of Katherine, just five minutes’ drive away from the Katherine Hot Springs where there are thermal baths and riverside walking trails.
If a non-negotiable break activity for you is chilling out on a poolside, you’ll be sorted here as site has a pool and spa. It's a dog-friendly place too, and dog walks are a dream to track down – it's only a five-minute walk from this 44-acre parkland site to Katherine’s low-level nature reserve.
'Where the outback meets the tropics' is how the folk here describe their place – and you can certainly see why. There's wildlife to spot at the park, but there's also much to explore around the gorge, the national parks and hiking trails over other sweet natural spots. The Northern Territory has a rich cultural and spiritual history, with an ancient indigenous culture to explore through various experiences or museums.
Of course, you'll be needing a few filling meals and perhaps a treat or two. All that's easily sorted – there’s a bistro-style restaurant just five minutes’ walk away from BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Katherine and more restaurants are based in Katherine within five to 10 minutes’ drive of the site.

Local attractions
Katherine’s waterfalls are neat indeed. Katherine Gorge (half an hour’s drive) is one of the Nitmiluk National Park’s 13 gorges, scattered with glowing cliffs, aboriginal sandstone art and sandy wild swimming spots. Canoe, boat or hike your way around, and end the day with a dip in the Southern Rockhole (half an hour), accessible with a four-kilometre hike from the top of the first gorge.
If that’s given you a taste for Katherine hikes, head to the Nitmiluk Visitor Center (half an hour) for the start of the 58-kilometre Jatbula Trail. It ends at Edith Falls, but passes through the rainforest and by waterfalls and swimming holes.
The Cutta Cutta Caves Nature Park (25 minutes) is a cool spot too, with limestone karst caves and everything from bats to stalactites and stalagmites. However, if you feel it’s time for a little local history, The Katherine Museum (10 minutes) might be up next.
