  • Back-to-basics camping with stunning Rhinog Mountain views in Gwynedd
  • Harlech Beach half an hour’s drive; Llanfair Slate Caverns 35 minutes
  • In Eyri National Park, with hiking and biking straight from the site
If you’re looking for a wild camping experience in gorgeous North Wales – and one with spectacular Rhinog Mountain views to boot – Rhiw Goch Inn Campsite is the spot for you. This peaceful site covers 18 acres of hilly land, and you can camp wherever you choose, either in the fields or near the beautiful and sadly derelict namesake pub that is central to the property. Site facilities are simple – please note there are no loos or showers, but running water and waste areas are available. However, who really cares about lack of amenities when the site is set amid the mountains and valleys of Eryri National Park, and there are plenty of things to see and do within half an hour’s drive? You have the option of two beaches, mountain biking and hiking trails and the subterranean family attraction King Arthur’s Labyrinth, among many other local activities. And you can holiday at Rhiw Goch Inn Campsite knowing you’re doing some good. The money raised from the pitches goes to a very worthy cause: it is being reinvested into the restoration of the once-handsome Grade II-listed Rhiw Goch Inn and its reopening as an inn and restaurant.

What customers say

Great views & peace in Snowdonia for walkers/cyclists. Owners Peter & wife praised for friendliness and local tips. 'No frills' but perfect for nature lovers. Fresh water/disposal improved. Minor points: less shade, some sheep muck. Mostly great, people want to return.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Well, we have been out exploring all summer and this is the best place we have stayed.
Site was small, but perfect. The views, and sunsets and sunrises were incredible.
There is so much to do and see and all so close.
The beach was incredible
The local nature walks were fabulous.
Even the lake walk at 10 miles was a pleasure.
The hosts were lovely, 3 horses keeping a watch upon us.
The pitch was lovely and flat. So quiet and peaceful.
Cannot rate it any higher

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Beautiful site with lovely view, very friendly and helpful owners, it is next to an old inn that the owners hope to bring back to life in the future, it was very peaceful camping on the hill site, there is water available on the site.
Google map takes you a little ahead of the site so follow the sign for campsite after the holiday cabin estate. Thank you.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The most amazing views across the Rhigos mountains, and the fact that there were five errant sheep on the loose, giving the farmer the run around! The host was very friendly and the pitches were a good size. The price was excellent.

Disliked The midges were the only thing that were the 'fly in the ointment!'. Otherwise, for wild camping you can't beat it.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Really lovely back to basics campsite. The owner is helpful and friendly. The view is lovely.. Sun sets behind the hills Infront of you.. Sheep roaming the land. I can't fault it.
Perfect base for sightseeing in north Wales. We camped here for 3 nights as we planned to climb Snowdon. It's approximately a 1 hour drive to the base of Snowdon mountain.
There's a Few pubs not far from the campsite (15 mins drive) if you want a hot meal. We did have phone signal
