  • Quiet family-friendly campsite 10 minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay
  • Direct access to Wales Coast Path; Cei Bach Beach 10 minutes’ drive
  • Dogs welcome; licensed bistro, farm shop and a play barn on site
Sitting between the seaside towns of Aberaeron and New Quay, Moody Meadows is a family-run site 10 minutes’ drive from spectacular Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion. And not only is it family-run, it’s also very family-friendly, with a whole host of facilities to make life easy on site. These include a farm shop for topping up on supplies, a licensed bistro for those days when you can’t be bothered to spark up the barbecue and a play barn to keep kids safely occupied. The level, tree-lined pitches are all fully serviced with a lawned area for sitting out. Thoughtful additions in the shower block (it has disabled facilities) include hair dryers and a laundrette, and should you be bringing dogs with you, there’s also a dedicated dog wash area for cleaning muddy paws. With easy access off the A487, this quiet site is a convenient base for exploring Ceredigion, its beaches, historic sites and wildlife – watch out for red kites inland and dolphins in Cardigan Bay. A footpath leads from the site to the village of Llwyncelyn (10 minutes’ stroll), and a short walk from there takes you onto the scenic Wales Coast Path… You won’t need a car to explore the area, but a good pair of walking boots is essential.

What customers say

Lovely site, spotless facilities, great food, and friendly staff. Spacious pitches, some with hot tubs. Peaceful for most, though it can get busy. Minor quirks with showers and tent pitches. Exciting developments ahead!

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (large)

Liked Great place.
Brilliant sized pitches.
Very clean site, toilets and shower were spotless.
Great facilities like washing machine, dryer and even a dog shower.

We had a great two day stay here. The Moody Cow restaurant on site was so good.
The food was amazing and freshly cooked. Very reasonably priced.
We were especially lucky to be there on a Thursday where there was singing in the evening.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (hot tub, lake view)

Liked Moody Meadows is a perfect spot for exploring the area, with Aberaeron just a 5-minute drive away and Aberystwyth around 30 minutes. The hot tubs were immaculate, and it was great to have some grass space for the dog. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful — when our van battery died, they came to help straight away, which we really appreciated. The coffees were brilliant too. We’ll definitely return, especially in better weather.

Disliked Not so much a dislike, more a personal preference. The hot tubs are checked twice daily, which is reassuring, but the morning check did stir the dog when I was hoping for a lie-in.

Liked Great Bar & Restaurant
Onsite shop, lovely pies & pasties and local butchers produce, you can also order specific meats if not in shop for delivery.
Dog Friendly
Coastal paths about 20 mins walk away, with New Quay to the south and Aberaeron to the north which are both well worth walking too which will take a couple of hours, with a easy bus ride back if you don't want to walk both ways.
Bus stop onsite (T5) which travels between Aberystwyth & Haverfordwest making day trips via public transport easy.

Liked Lovely clean site

Disliked It is made to be a fanily friendly site. Which it is. But you have to pay for the soft play and trampoline park which I get but would have been sign for guests staying at the site to get a discount as there isn't even a park the kids could go to.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (adults only)

Liked Lovely clean site. Bistro and farm shop are a lovely touch serving some great bits. Good facilities and love the dog shower facility (although need £ coin to use)

Disliked Sold as family friendly sight booked with friends who have two young kids. They spot the play park driving in. Go to have a play and find it can only be used as part of soft play at an extra cost and at certain times of which there were no more times available. 2 very disappointed kids watching the others play on it outside. Sold as a family friendly site but outside of the "pay even more" facilities (which for soft play and trampolining is absolutely understandable) there is nothing for the kids. It would be good to have a play park accessible to those staying on site available at all times of the day!

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (hot tub)

Liked Great place ,very clean staff are great second time we have been here
Love the hot tub

Disliked Booked a meal for 6pm .
Turned up at 5.45 to be told table needed to be vacated by 7.30
Ordered food then they bought my starter and main at same time and didn't bring my disabled wife her starter .
They soon rectified and bought my wife's starter .
Had another drink and at 7.10 we still hadn't received our main meals so we decided to leave .
Manager was great and very apologetic but was disappointed not to receive what we had ordered and no discount offered for our inconvenience

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (hot tub)

Liked Lovely clean site, good size pitches. Hot tub was a great addition.
Toilet block was clean & spacious.
Restaurant/bar had good food & friendly staff.
Well equipped for dogs with good dog walks & areas. Restaurant dog friendly too.

Disliked Only very small negatives! Literally hardly worth mentioning...
Showers were Luke warm. When we stayed it was 0° so a hot shower would have been good!
And more dog poop bins!

Local attractions

Take forays along the Wales Coast Path (direct access from the site), or pack a picnic and march the family down to sand-and-shingle Cei Bach Beach (50 minutes’ stroll/10 minutes’ drive) to see if you can spot dolphins playing in the waves. If the kids catch the wildlife bug, take them to see the birds of prey and butterfly house at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (55 minutes’ drive), where they can also encounter giant animal sculptures on lakeside walks. Learn more about the history of this corner of Ceredigion with a visit to the National Wool Museum (25 minutes), housed in a historic mill packed with original spinning looms; there are entertaining craft workshops for families. Fans of the combustion engine can see 19th-century machines in motion at The Internal Fire Museum of Power (20 minutes), giving an insight into the development of steam power. Staying with the heritage theme, tour the handsome John Nash-designed villa and lakeside gardens at National Trust - Llanerchaeron (10 minutes). If your offspring need an antidote to all that history, the crescent-shaped sandy beach at New Quay (10 minutes’ drive) has rock pools for crabbing and is backed by ice cream stalls and cafés.
