  • Well-located family-run Trossachs log cabins opposite Ben More
  • Loch Lomond and Falls of Falloch within 15 minutes' drive
  • Easy access from the A85; bar and restaurant on site
Gorgeous mountain and forest views, fabulous walks close by… and supremely easy road access too? It all comes together in one winning location at Ben More Lodge, just off the A85 in the north of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. As the name suggests, this Perthshire location is just opposite Ben More, one of the most popular of the area’s Munros. That makes this a fantastic base for those who’d like to climb this particular mountain – and the surrounding Crianlarich area has another seven to choose from if you’d like additional uphill challenges. The West Highland Way passes close by as well, making this a popular stopover point for long-distance walkers. Not that you have to go clambering up mountains or tackling multi-day hikes if you don’t want to – there are also more easygoing walks close by, plus options for skiing, golf, watersports and boat trips. Whichever of these pursuits to choose to fill your days with, you’ll no doubt be pleased to come back to a comfy log cabin kitted out with heating, tea/coffee making facilities and an ensuite bathroom with a shower where you can clean up and soothe any aching muscles. Each one is nicely cosy in all weathers, and on fine days you can potter outside to make use of your barbecue and firepit. Worn out from your day’s exertions? Handily, this family-run site has its own bar and restaurant so you don’t have to travel at all to find a home-cooked meal or a well-earned cool drink.

Cabin

Liked: Ease of check in and proximity to the village

Disliked: Bit tired and basic. Definitely not big enough for three people and wouldn’t call it a ‘lodge’. Single bed was quite poor.

Cabin

Liked: Lovely cosy and warm lodge. Great food too, would recommend the steak pie. Site run by a lovely young family. I would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Mugs instead of tea cups in the lodges, after a long walk you need a mug of tea😁. Just an observation, in no way a complaint.

Cabin

Liked: The location is really convenient , Rachel and David were lovely , and it was exactly as described...cosy and an ideal stop on a longer journey. It was very good value for money, the location is incredibly beautiful...it was excellent. There's a pub on site, you can eat cheaply and well....whats not to like :)

Disliked: The only thing we would have liked is more surfaces to put things on.

Local attractions

This is a fantastic location for walkers and climbers, with several popular Munros nearby. As well as Ben More, just across the road from the site, you’ll also be in a great spot for trips to Ben Lui, Ben Lomond and The Cobbler, among others. Fancy something a bit easier? Take a stroll to Falls Of Falloch (10 minutes’ drive) or Falls of Dochart (15 minutes). Those waterfalls are, of course, not the only water features in this area. Nearby lochs include Loch Tay, Loch Earn and even the mighty Loch Lomond itself – and between them they’ve got plenty of options for walks, watersports and boat trips. Golf is close by at Killin Golf Club (20 minutes) and winter guests can go skiing at Glencoe (45 minutes). For a dip into the area’s heritage, head to Kilchurn Castle (25 minutes) or Ardkinglas House (50 minutes) and seek out the Grave of Rob Roy MacGregor (half an hour). If you fancy exploring further afield, Oban, Fort William and Stirling are all within an hour’s drive.
