  • Small, peaceful Perthshire site near Blairgowrie for CAMC members only
  • Glamis Castle and Scone Palace half an hour's drive; Dundee 45 minutes
  • Adults-only pitches on a four-acre wildflower field; dogs welcome
There’s been a caravan site here for about 40 years, and it’s had numerous return visitors over that time – so you know the team at Quarryhill Certified Location must be doing something right… This peaceful site is on a four-acre field full of grass and wildflowers and has just a handful of hardstanding pitches, all of them spacious, south-facing and equipped with electric hook-up. They’re available to Caravan and Motorhome Club members only, and they’re also adults-only (although accompanying dogs of all ages are welcome, as long as they’re well-behaved). Facilities here are simple but nicely done – there are no showers, but you’ll have access to a water supply, an Elsan point, rubbish disposal and an old farm toilet. There’s a warden on site to keep everything as it should be, and they’re also happy to provide general assistance or help with handy information on what to do and where to go nearby. The site is accessed from the A923 so there are no tricky winding lanes to navigate; it’s nicely tucked away though, so there’s very little road noise. Having the main road so close by is very handy though, as it means easy journeys to Blairgowrie (five minutes’ drive) or Dunkeld (15 minutes) for supplies, and to various days out, whether you fancy exploring Perth and Dundee, walking in the Tay Forest Park or checking out all the area’s castles.

Local attractions

There’s some gorgeous scenery around here, and numerous ways to explore some of it – perhaps walking on the trails of Tay Forest Park or checking out the wildlife and waterfall at The Hermitage (National Trust for Scotland) (both 25 minutes’ drive). Local activity providers can sort you out with days of watersports, canyoning, horse riding and ATV driving, or you could keep it more low key with a round at The Blairgowrie Golf Club (10 minutes). These landscapes are packed with heritage too – from the ancient Ranageig Stone Circle to the grand Glamis Castle and Scone Palace (all about half an hour away). Whisky is a big part of Scottish culture too, so see if you can organise a tour (or at least a purchase) at Blair Athol Distillery (half an hour), Strathearn Distillery (40 minutes) or one of the other options nearby. For urban days out, you may like to pick Perth (35 minutes) for its museums, art gallery and theatre, or try Dundee (45 minutes), home to the V&A Dundee, several galleries and museums… and a statue of Desperate Dan.
