  • A 10-minute drive from Newtonmore and 15 minutes from Loch Laggan
  • Smart touches including coffee machine, LCD TV and power shower
Freshwater beaches, scenic lochs and spectacular glens – all are within easy reach of Laggan Glamping, a cosy Cairngorms base for Highlands and Islands sojourns in well-equipped pods with central heating to keep you warm no matter what the weather chucks at you. Each unit at this prime park in the splendid Scottish countryside sleeps up to five people, with a separate bedroom for a little extra privacy. Built to top-notch standards, they come with handy facilities such as an ensuite bathroom with power shower, and a kitchenette with a gas hob, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and posh coffee machine. A 32-inch LCD TV with Freesat channels sits in the lounge area, and there's also wifi for streaming stuff on your tablet if you prefer. A big decking area with patio furniture and a barbecue looking out over the horse paddocks is just outside. Want to cook over coals but under shelter? A barbecue pod seating 20 people is available at the park; swing by the supermarket (a 10-minute drive away in Newtonmore) for buns and beer, and order a meat pack from Laggan Glamping’s owners for ingredients like butchers’ sausages, venison burgers and chicken thighs. For the mornings, there’s also a takeaway-style breakfast menu. This park’s also pet-friendly, with a secure two-acre field for dogs to exercise in – just make sure you book a berth for your four-legged pal. There are more places for walkies in the surrounding area or towards the freshwater beaches of Loch Laggan, a 15-minute drive away.

Local attractions

This part of the Scottish Highlands is an adventure hotspot, with the Monadhliath Mountains for mountaineering and climbing a 45-minute drive away, and the strolling, cycling and forest trails in Laggan Wolftrax accessible in just over five minutes. If especially long ambles are wanted, the site’s on the East Highland Way, a seven-day walk from Fort William to Aviemore; those who’d prefer to see the scenery at higher speeds on a 4x4 quad bike can rent one a 15-minute drive away. For more thrills, a zipline park, treetop adventure complex and go-karting are all within half an hour of the site. Once you’ve got your heart racing on such pursuits, lower your pulse with a calming dram (and tour) at the Ben Nevis Whisky Distillery a 50-minute drive away.
