  • Exclusive-use vintage caravans at a South Devon site with sea views
  • South West Coast Path five minutes’ walk; Wadham Beach 15 minutes
  • Classic Eriba caravans with a communal kitchen and open-air bathroom
It’s not every day you get a glampsite all to yourself, especially one on a South Devon farm with spectacular sea views – stretching from Bigbury Bay in the east towards Rame Head in the west – from a clifftop field. Camp Sorbet is a collection of classic Eriba caravans that can be only hired out all together, promising seclusion and privacy with the Carswell cattle as your only neighbours. The three Eriba caravans are known as Mango, Blueberry and Lemon, and accommodate up to six guests. Two have super-king-size beds, while the third has a shorter double bed just right for kids. If you don’t need all the caravans for sleeping, you can use the other for relaxing and dining with comfy seating in place of the bed. Each caravan has tea- and coffee-making facilities, while the shared wooden Den houses a kitchen and indoor dining area. There’s also an open-air bathroom with a roll-top bath and shower, and a separate compost loo. Outside, the seating area has an awning for shade, a barbecue and firepit, and is surrounded by a spacious, flat grass field for family fun in sight of the caravans. If you need inspo for keeping everyone entertained, the site owners can organise all manner of activities from seaweed foraging workshops to mountain-bike hire.

Local attractions

Hikers, grab your boots as you can be on the stunning South West Coast Path in less than five minutes’ stroll; follow the trail down to Wadham Rocks Beach (15 minutes’ walk), where the kids can have a paddle and a poke about in the rock pools, or stride out further and head for the Insta-ready ruins of the atmospheric Church of St Peter the Poor Fisherman (half an hour). If you’d rather do your exploring on the water, hire paddleboards from the site owners for an adventure along the River Yealm to Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. Cyclists can also rent mountain bikes for the day, perhaps for a leisurely family ride over to sandy Mothecombe Beach (25 minutes by bike) for a cooling dip in the sea. Options for family days out include the petting zoo, waterslides and tractor rides at Woodlands Family Theme Park (40 minutes’ drive), three floors of colourful marine life at the National Marine Aquarium (half an hour), or ranger talks and feeding sessions at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park (50 minutes).
