  • Biker-friendly site on a hill overlooking the Cheshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Congleton; five miles from the Peak District
  • Sociable firepit area on site; meet free-roaming peacocks and alpacas
High time for a ride to the Cheshire countryside? Then make your way to Avona Escapes, a scenic adults-only site near Congleton that’s been set up primarily with bikers in mind. Owners Shez and Graham have been riding their motorbikes for over 20 years, so they've learned a few things about how to create a biker-friendly place to stay. Security is a top priority, so they’ve installed full CCTV here to make sure your wheels are safe and sound. Modern shower and toilet facilities are provided to help you freshen up, and there’s a lovely 10-foot firepit where guests can gather to share tips and tales. This is a lovely place to soak up a bit of rural peace – there are stunning views from the hilltop location and there are almost no neighbours so it's likely to be pretty quiet. Alpacas, peacocks, ducks and chickens roam free though, so don’t be surprised if they pay you a visit sometimes. Barbecues are permitted but you'll be asked to place them on the paving slabs provided for safety. Logs, charcoal and firelighters are sold on site, and there are supermarkets on the edge of Congleton (about 10 minutes’ ride/drive away) for other supplies. Groups are welcome at Avona Escapes, and those with over 10 people can ask the site (before their arrival) for an evening meal, with food such as barbecued goods, homemade pizzas, curry, chilli con carne or toasties for a set price per person.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked What a gem! Beautiful location in the hills with a stunning view, the toilet and shower blocks were impeccably clean and a warm welcome from Graham. The added bonus of the free-roaming alpacas, ducks and peacocks made this place even more magical. Perfect pit-stop for us travelling up from London to Glasgow. 10/10!

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked The site was easy to find using the instructions provided by the hosts. The owners were lovely and helpful on arrival.

We found the site to be spacious and peaceful. The site is a little uneven in some areas but we managed to find a lovely flat spot that had spectacular views.

The facilities were clean and well stocked with ample hot water from the showers. The compost toilets are probably some of the cleanest compost toilets I've ever used!

We didn't use the communal fire pits or the seating areas but they were a good option to have and if we were there longer we probably would have done.

The free roaming alpacas and peacocks add a touch of whimsy to an already lovely site. We also had a visit from a very cute and friendly little cat (that we presume is the owners).

The peacocks were shedding feathers and the owners kindly let us take some home with for crafts, which was the cherry on top to be honest.

Thank you for such a great stay. We will definitely be returning!!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Loved the area, drive to congleton, animals on site (alpacas, peacocks, ducks, and in the glamping area they have meerkats, wallabies). Really low key area, nice view over a city, easy to drive on and pitch up. Pete was so friendly and kind. Would definitely come back!! Very impressed with the toilets - there was never any bad smell. Showers there and you can rent a fire pit and buy fire logs, kindling and fire starters. 11/10!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked I loved this camp site, the toilets were very clean and eco friendly, the showers too, also hot water for washing up.
The site it's self is beautiful peaceful with amazing views, great for hiking or just relaxation.
Peter the manager was so helpful and always smiling, I felt very safe as a solo traveller. There is some intresting history in the area itself, and in the middle of the field is an old prayer stone. There are some breathtaking view points for sunrise/sunset.
The Alpacas in the field where just gorgeous and very friendly.
Would highly recommend this camp site and will be visiting here again.

Liked Fantastic stay yesterday! Owners were away However the wonderful Peter could not have been more helpful! Genuinely loves his job and the campsite. The free roaming animals are a wonderful source of entertainment. Toilets and showers were so clean and fresh! It’s worth noting they are compost toilets however there were no issues and did not smell at all. Would highly recommend the site, the views are glorious. Thank you again to Peter for making us feel so welcome. We will be back 😁

Route directions

If you follow Satnav direction, it will bring you to a small layby with three large rocks and a sign for Avona. This is the bottom of the drive. Continue to the top of the drive and then around the back of the house. Continue through the large gate in front of you to the camping field, find a space and pitch up. Keep an eye out for wet ground near the pond if it has been raining. The owners will greet you when you arrive, or if they aren’t there, they’ll visit at some point.
