  • Small, quiet and well-kept Northumberland site for CAMC members only
  • Bamburgh and Alnwick both half an hour’s drive; Holy Island 35 minutes
  • Off-grid, partially shaded pitches with views to the Cheviot Hills
Tucked into the base of the Cheviot Hills, Culley’s Meadow Certificated Location is a peaceful and adults-only Northumberland site for Caravan and Motorhome Club members. With just a handful of well-maintained hardstanding pitches in a grass paddock sheltered by trees, it’s just five minutes’ drive from Northumberland National Park, making it a handy base for walking and cycling in stunning countryside. There are water hook-ups and waste disposal available, but please note there is no electricity on site, and no showers or loos, so you will need to be completely self-sufficient. There are dog walks from the site if you’re holidaying with any four legged friends. Bring your own barbecues to grill up supper, but if you’re not a fan of the self-catering side of things, the lively market town of Wooler (15 minutes’ stroll/five minutes by car) is home to a variety of cafés, pubs and takeaways, as well as the Ad Gefrin whisky and gin distillery, where you can taste and buy artisan spirits.

Local attractions

Culley’s Meadow sits near two well-known cycling routes: the Sandstone Way and the Pennine Cycleway, making the site a haven for bikers. Walkers are equally spoiled, with trails ranging from the gentle paths of Wooler Common (10 minutes’ drive) to the more challenging ascent of The Cheviot (25 minutes), Northumberland’s highest peak. A scenic drive takes you to the expansive sandy beaches of Bamburgh (half an hour) and Holy Island (35 minutes), where you can walk the dogs, paddle in the waves and swim on warmer days. If you fancy a bit of history with your beach stroll, take a guided tour of the landmark Bamburgh Castle, explore Lindisfarne Priory (35 minutes) or visit the Poison Garden at Alnwick Castle (half an hour). You can spot the UK’s only wild cattle at Chillingham Castle (15 minutes), and make friends with the Shires at Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre (also 15 minutes). For a healthy walk involving a ball, Wooler Golf Club (10 minutes) has a well-kept nine-hole course with views of the Cheviot Hills.
