Kingfisher yurt

Liked The site was lovely, and very quiet. we stayed in the yurt which was well presented, and cosy. Plenty of blankets supplied if the temps drop but we found the quilt on it own was perfect. Facilities were clean and well kept. We stayed just one night so didn't get to use the communal area as much as we'd have liked but it was great having the fridge and sink in there and it looks like a lovely area to sit and relax on an evening. Lovely adults only site and will be back :)
Only marked the WiFi down as we didn't connect to it, so can't comment on the strength or quality.
Chairs also provided to sit around the fire, we just enjoy our camping chairs. But you definitely don't need to worry about bringing any if you don't have some.

What customers say

This adults-only site has lovely, quiet spots by Colemere lake. Great for woodland and canal walks. Owners are super friendly and helpful, and the facilities are spotless, with a top-notch lounge. Roads can be tricky, and some pitches are a bit lumpy, but people love it here and can't wait to come back.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked This is a beautiful site, very well looked after and the owner is friendly and gave plenty of information on places to visit in the area. Many small touches to make sure visitors have everything they need.Hot showers and hot water for washing up and we loved the little area to sit and chill with a drink. Also loved the walk around the lake which is just through a gate on the site.Plenty to do in the area.Would definitely recommend to family and friends and we look forward to returning soon.

Liked Really lovely campsite with great walks all around. Never once had to wait to use any of the facilities and the owners are really lovely and welcoming. First time camping in the rain which I can’t say we loved but we will definitely be back when the sun is shining. Loved seeing all the wildlife around the pitches

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I had such a lovely stay at Colemere Caravan Park and would happily recommend it. The location is beautiful, with plenty of scenic walks right on the doorstep – perfect for a peaceful getaway.

The site is really well maintained and everything is kept spotless. Ingrid and Dave were so welcoming and friendly, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

I especially loved the little extras like the Sunday trailer bar and the on-site shack – such a great touch. The facilities are clean, the adults-only setting makes it nice and relaxing, and the pitches are great value too.

I’m already planning another visit!

Disliked None at all!!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked There’s really nothing not to like here. If I’m being really picky, I’d say the cost of a fire pit is abit steep, but then we think the cost of the pitch is cheap, so it works out!

Our 3rd time staying, its peaceful, great location for walks, spacious pitches, amazingly polite owners, facilities are always kept clean!

Little shack with WiFi and seating/heating is really cosy and a great addition.

We’ve stayed none the electric every time as we do like abit more space then the electric pitches can provide, but the space for none electric pitches is huge! It was 2 fields when we first stayed but now it’s extended across 3 or 4!

We’re just looking to book again for August, can’t wait.

Local attractions

There's stacks to do in the surrounding area, whether you want to stick close to home by foot or pedal, or drive a bit further afield to the towns, tourist attractions and landscapes of Shropshire, Cheshire and north-east Wales – the city of Chester is 40 minutes away and Llangollen on the River Dee reachable within an hour. On the doorstep, tackle the two-mile walk along the canal towpath to Ellesmere or make your way via the purpose-built circular walk and through a wooded area of rhododendrons around the mere and nature reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest with species galore to see like otters, lapwings and water birds. The reserve also has several deep fishing pools well-stocked with catfish and big carp; more fishing – and carp – can be had nearby at Blackmere along the towpath from Colmere. Also nearby, wander into Colemere village to see the fifteenth-century thatched cottages, listed in the Domesday Book, to Ellesmere for food festivals, regattas and boat rides on the mere, or drive to Rednal Karting, Paintballing and Laser for an exciting time ten minutes away. Castles including Chirk and Whittington are a doddle to drive to too. If being on the water is your thing, a narrowboat marina is a three-minute drive away from the caravan park and both Colemere and Whitemere sailing clubs are within easy reach. By car, the standard of whitewater rafting at Bala Adventure and Watersports will have you foaming at the mouth – a milder form of the sport, along with abseiling, gorge walking, a steam railway and horse-drawn boat trips is available over the border in Wales at Llangollen.
