  • Small and friendly pop-up site five minutes' drive from Epworth
  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park 20 minutes' drive; Lincoln 45 minutes
  • Dog-friendly pitches with simple facilities and plenty of space
A lovely slice of Lincolnshire countryside awaits for guests at Cliff Hill House, a small and friendly pop-up site five minutes' drive from Epworth in the Isle of Axholme. In fact the Isle is not an island at all – it’s very much inland, but there's a lot of water around in the nearby River Trent, the local fishing lakes and the canals running through the surrounding farmland. That means plenty of opportunities for fishing, wildlife spotting and landscape photography as well as rural walks and bike rides. In fact, this is particularly good walking and cycling territory, with fairly flat landscapes and some well-marked trails to follow. Ask on site for tips on good places to go – the site owners have all the local info to hand and should be able to suggest something suitable. A particularly interesting local favourite is the Wesley Trail, which starts in Epworth and traces the history of the founding family of Methodism. Epworth’s also a handy place to find a shop or a pub. The site is part of a five-acre property where the friendly owners live on site. In your spare time, unwind at the communal seating area or take the kids to let off steam in the play area. On site, there is also complimentary coffee (from a machine), mobile phone charging points and a communal fridge-freezer. Pitches are on a large flat field with good drainage, and guest numbers are purposefully kept on the low side so that there’s always plenty of space for all – and you’ll get to choose your own spot too. The setup here is fairly simple, with no electric hookups or showers provided. You’ll have access to drinking water points and an outdoor toilet; please note this is attached to a septic tank so it’s not suitable for chemical waste. There is also a portable toilet for extra convenience. A limited number of firepits are available to hire for a small fee; firepit kits with wood and kindling, as well as firelighters, are available for an additional fee.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked What a cracking little pop up site. It's a back to basics site done incredibly well. Very peaceful, clean facilities. The late check out was a game changer, we slept like logs knowing there was no rushing around to be done in the morning. It's probably the best night sleep I've ever had camping. Very relaxed vibe with some lovely little touches. Really hope they either pop up again next year or they open as a permanent site, we will definitely be back.

Disliked Nothing to dislike. Only 1 toilet but, not an issue.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Stayed here a few times now. Perfect, as before. The people who run the site are very friendly and helpful, keeping a low profile. Large, grassy field with a great play area to keep the children amused. Also coffee making, phone charging, fire pit rental. We will return.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything about the site.
Our favourite thing was the play area for the kids. A zip line, swings, tree house etc - all a great addition to a camping site for families.
The coffee machine with fresh coffee and squash for the kids is a lovely thought.
The toilet and portaloo's are clean and tidy with soap, paper towels and loo roll.
The owners are very friendly and on hand if you need anything. We didn't bring our fire pit but rented one for the evening to roast marshmallows.
Ours was a last minute one night stay but we will definitely book and come again for a full weekend. The field is lovely and peaceful and we really enjoyed our visit 😊
