Fun, family-friendly and downright fab… the site of Beaucette Marina is just the spot for laidback holidays on the Channel Islands. It sits just off the blue waters of Beaucette Marina, with views out to sea over bobbing boats and easy access to Guernsey’s gorgeous beaches. If you're bringing the whole family along for the trip, pets are welcome. This isle's got 24 square miles to scamper around, and the site's especially well placed to check out its north-eastern end. Starting with roams on two feet? Tick off beaches from the footpaths that circle the coast… or begin your tramping tour with a five-minute stroll over to the early 19th-century Fort Doyle, one of a number of tiny forts and much bigger castles built to defend the island over the years. The foodie culture’s big on Guernsey, so it’s no wonder Beaucette Marina's restaurant and bar has won a fair few awards. When you’re not eating here, try one of the crab sandwiches at the kiosks dotted around the coastline – an island speciality. If you’re heading over to the other side of Guernsey, about a half an hour’s drive away, the restaurant one in front of the Imperial Hotel is recommended: chomp on your sarnie among views out over Rocquaine Bay and Lihou Island.

  • Reception is unmanned after 17:00. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.

A lovely spot with grand views. Facilities are spick and span, showers are grand and the Wi-Fi works. The restaurant's a gem. Staff are sound. Pitches are roomy and level. A few quibbles about greenhouses and the odd communication snag, but the manager's on the ball.

Liked The views , the location , facilities were good . Very happy we chose this location as our 2nd site on the island .

Disliked Price a bit high but that’s the Channel Islands . Security deposit of £27 unnecessary for a camping pitch . Permit should be part of the price .

Liked Facilities and showers on the site were clean and tidy.
Good location as a base for your holiday and close to the beaches.
Great for dogs!!

Disliked Terribly poor communication from the site it’s self! I had to contact numerous times to get information like check in details, no reply’s to voicemail or emails. Ended up getting the shower block code from the person staying on the porch next to us! Poor/ no communication

Liked Nice area, walking distance to L’Ancresse which has a lovely beach and eateries. Didn’t try the on site restaurant, but looked nice.
Facilities generally fairly clean and nice.
Decent Wi-Fi.

Disliked We weren’t given the correct access code to get into the toilet/ shower block (luckily other residents gave us the code as it was late).
Would like to see the washing up area kept a bit cleaner.
No local shops, so need to be prepared and bring what you need.
Quite expensive to stay, even without electric hook up.

From the manager: We are sorry that we didn't meet your standards on this occasion. We do try our very best. There are local shops nearby, our reception has all the information as well as a few provisions if required including milk. Our toilet and laundry block is cleaned daily.

Local attractions

L'Ancresse Common is a grassy area edging the sea that covers a big patch of the northern part of Guernsey, and its centre is about half an hour's walk away. Skirt around the coast enroute to stop by at the bays of L'Ancresse (20 minutes) and Pembroke (35 minutes), which shelve gently and are prime paddling and sandcastle-building spots. If you fancy a shorter walk, Fort Le Marchant, with its original centre dating from 1680, is on the next peninsula about a 15-minute stroll away. For day trips over to surrounding islands like Sark, Herm and Alderney, head to the eastern side of the island in the car (about 20 minutes) to catch a boat from Saint Peter Port… although you could alternatively simply hang about in the historic harbour area for wanders around duty-free shops. Linger around the harbour a little longer to learn about the island’s World War II German occupation through the artefacts in La Vallette Underground Military Museum. Bikes can be hired on site for a cycle that’ll take you about half an hour if you want time to soak up scenery along the way.
