Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, England
Primitive grass travel trailer, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked The staff are friendly and helpful, we arrived to find the non-electric field over full as some people had taken up more space than allocated however the owner gave us a spot in the ehu field without any drama. The toilets are clean and maintained if not a little dated. The grounds are well maintained, level pitches with no bumps, stones or thistles etc means the kids can wander around barefoot without worry. The fishing was good fun, plenty of Rudd, Roach, and Perch to keep the kids happy. If using maggot you can make a great swim in a few minutes then the kids will pull a decent sized fish every cast without waiting long. The carp were spawning so not many bites but we still landed 1 every couple of hours. Largest was 10lb others have landed 13+.
Disliked My only criticism is the pitches are very close together. If this doesn’t bother you than the site is perfect.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked The owners were very welcoming, after checking in we were shown to our pitches (a group of three tents). The unlimited pitch size isn’t over stated, we had more than enough space for three large tents, two vans and a large gazebo.
The toilets and showers were very well maintained.
The view out to the east looks over flat countryside and the sea, we watched a lightening storm over the sea. The light pollution is very low so great for star gazing. We used binoculars.
We hired a fire pit, home made from a washer machine worked a treat. The owners came around each day offering more wood for the fire and marshmallows for the kids, £5 for a bag of wood, £1 for marshmallows and skewers.
There’s lots of space for the kids and dog to play.
Disliked Though outside of the control of the site management I have to mention the noise from the RAF, running manoeuvres faster than the speed of sound 2 miles above your head means you can’t hear the person next to you shouting. It’s a problem for the area not the site.
Nothing to dislike about the site. If you are using the site to explore to local area then it’s perfect, I wouldn’t want to stay on site for the day as the RAF spoil what is otherwise an exceptional traditional campsite.

Powered grass campsite
Liked Quiet location with lots of scenic views.
Pitch sizes are generous.
Disliked Toilets didn’t seem to be cleaned for several days. Hand wash ran out on the Tuesday and didn’t get filled up until Thursday. The toilets are however generally clean and tidy so maybe the hand wash was missed on Wednesday?

Burgh le Marsh, Lincolnshire, England
Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked We called the number given on the booking confirmation when we arrived and was quickly given a map of the site with our pitch highlighted. The area was level and clear of any rubbish. Each pitch has a water point at the EHU point which is very useful.
Showers and toilets are a clean and presentable, the water hot and there are enough of them that I didnt need to wait to shower etc. The converted horse boxes are a good mix of rustic and modern.
Half way through our visit the owner came to check everything was ok and also let us know that the Orb guns had been banned following complaints - this didnt effect us but its great to see the owner taking action on a complaint.
10 minutes to either Skegness or Ingoldmels, the near by village of Burgh-le-marsh is a 20 minute walk and has a good pub, kids play area and a pretty church.
Disliked Although there is a communal fire pit it was never in use, I would have liked to have seen a large fire built inviting the site users to sit together on one of the nights but the owner did make it clear it was available for use so its not really a complaint just an observation.

Liked The site is quiet and as promised has zero light pollution giving a great view of the night sky. The staff are friendly and approachable, the showers clean and hot.
Disliked The grass on the fields is a bit long, not a complaint just an observation, the kids hard a hard time playing ball games but they got over it.

From the manager: Hi there. So sorry that you found the grass a bit long, if you'd mentioned this to any one of us we would have hopped on the mower and made it even lower for you - we mowed a great cricket pitch for another family when they asked. The farmer cuts the whole field for us regularly and then we take it right down further where the pitches are.
