Disliked Where to start….
My husband & I have been camping for many years and have never in over 40 yrs had such an appalling experience.
We arrived on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, we had ordered a hard standing gravel pitch with electric for our Campervan.
We were directed around the site by the owner passing the gravel pitches which were all full and she then showed us to a normal grass pitch, I advised we had booked hard standing and she promptly explained to me that the gravel pitches in the Yorkshire Dales were covered by grass. We had paid over £40 per night for a tiny boggy plot that was so close to the neighbours you could hear them breath. She then promptly said if you don’t like it you can leave.
Her behaviour was very erratic, shouting, then flipping to slightly polite then saying don’t stay then. We do not usually complain but her attitude was so appalling we made the decision to leave, we could not stay a moment longer.
This site was over booked and dangerous.
I went to the office and spoke to a couple of staff members who were polite and apologised. They did not appear shocked at how this woman had spoken to us and implied it happened often. They said they would arrange a refund after the weekend.
The impression I got was that her behaviour that day was nothing new and after reading reviews since our visit this has become apparent.
Our bank holiday weekend was spoilt but luckily for us we live fairly local so our drive home was too long. But imagine if you had travelled with children or a long distance how awful this would have been.
Thankfully we did get a refund a few days later but our bank holiday weekend was ruined. I would never stay there again and would advise others not to go. Especially not on a bank holiday because it is obvious that they are all about packing people in like sardines and making as much money as possible.
Something to also note, there are signs at the site with the caravanning and camping club signs and logos. This site is not part of the club and is false advertising.
