Beach buffs of the world, don your swimming kit and prepare for some serious lounging. You could barely be any closer to the beach than at Strandpark Vlugtenburg, a family site that’s separated from the North Sea only by a great swathe of sandy beach and dunes. Look north from this spot on the outskirts of the small town of 's Gravenzande and you’ll see the beach stretching away in front of you for several kilometres. Just a 10-minute drive to the south is the port of Hook of Holland, making this a mighty handy first stopping point if you’ve just arrived on the ferry from Harwich. With The Hague, Delft and Rotterdam all around half an hour’s drive away, it’s also a good area to park yourself for several days to combine a bit of city culture with some beach action. When they’re not on the beach, kids can spend time at the playground, splash about at the water playground (summer only), play games with friends on the panna football field or join in with the various activities organised for them on site throughout the year (every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, plus extra days in high season). There’s also an indoor games room, and board games can be borrowed from reception. Very conveniently, the site also has its own restaurant: the family-friendly Eetcafé Zout, which serves up tasty food and also hosts various fun events (including babysitting evenings and family bingo nights). You can also order breakfast deliveries on site, and finish your day with a cocktail or a cool beer and some snacks on the sea-view terrace.

Liked Near to ferry terminal,WiFi worked well ,toilets clean

Disliked Restaurant and bar in my opinion quite pricey ,burger and chips 21 euros ,a small coke 3.5 euros and a 50ml Heineken with a 30 ml top 7.5 euros

Liked We liked the location very good facilities close to a lovely beach exellent to use as a base to explore rotterdam or simpley use as stopping point for the ferry home

Disliked Nothing to dislike enjoyed our stay easy check in and out easy acesss for our motoehome of 8 meteres

Liked the sand, the ducks and how clean it was. the staff were always tidying up, it was really spotless

Disliked that the cafe was closed quite a bit, not helpful on the hot afternoons. we only wanted soft drinks but had to walk to the beach for them instead

Liked Friendly site and the majority that we stayed with were there for over a week.

Toilets were close and always clean. Liked the ones that had a toilet, shower and sink in them.

Great location and the beach was amazing, probably down to the lovely weather. Probably not great without it😂

Nice waterpark for the kids and plenty to do round about.

We stayed for a week and it was the best park we stayed at during our month tour of Europe.

So close to ferry , which was 10 mins easy drive.

So glad we went there and great staff and holiday.

Disliked States fully serviced, which it is, but not as you know it in the UK. There is no permanent water. You have a push tap to fill your aqua roll. That being said, it was right next to my van, so it was great.

Pitches on arrival do make you rethink is this the site you want. All pitches were nearly all bare and no grass. Due to awnings and grounds sheets being in place for a long time. Gravel pitches would make this the perfect site.

Liked Le camping est très propre, et on a été très bien accueilli. De très beaux jeux, de la place pour une grande tente, franchement je recommande ce camping, à 10 minutes à pied d'une magnifique plage.

Disliked Le petit restaurant à côté des jeux.
C'est bon, mais pas donné. On nous a servi un pichet d'eau du robinet à 6€ !!

Liked Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, auch bei der Anfrage um die Verlängerung um einen Tag wurde uns geholfen.
Das gesamte Team vom Campingplatz war immer freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Local attractions

The beach is a major attraction here; aside from all your usual sea- and sand-based fun, you can also sign up for a range of activities including horse riding, land yachting, kitesurfing and paddleboarding, or try your luck with a fishing rod. A good way to get around and see some of the area’s beaches and other natural areas is to make like a local and get on your bike. Site staff can suggest routes, including cycling through the dunes to Kijkduin, heading to the Staelduinse Forest or taking the ferry to Maasvlakte to go seal spotting. For a kid-friendly day out, it’s half an hour’s drive to Rotterdam Zoo, where you can see lions, polar bears and monkeys among others. Aquatic animal life is on display at Sea Life Scheveningen, a 40-minute drive from the site. Also worth a day trip is the town of Delft, half an hour away, to shop for the famed blue and white porcelain, visit the old and new churches and see the Vermeer Centre, where the artist lived.
