Imagine this: waking up in a yurt in the Hungarian countryside and sipping on a hot brew at your private seating area with a view of the goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, cows and cats. The yurts at Bikali-Jurta have this splendid set-up, each with its own outdoor seating area surrounded by greenery, private bathrooms right next door and a small indoor kitchen area. This is a nature-oriented place, as you might be able to tell from the list of animals (pigs are also there, just out of sight). On chillier evenings, set about lighting the woodburning stove in your yurt and settle in with a good book or for some late-night snacking at the dining table. In the village, there’s a local shop within walking distance for your daily groceries; larger supermarkets are within a 15-minute drive of the site. Don’t forget to pick up some snacks for your day trips from Bikali-Jurta. The trails of the Mecsek Mountains are around 45 minutes’ drive away, with more routes to pick from closer by. You could take a trip to the city of Pécs (50 minutes) or lakefront Orfű (40 minutes), and even go as far as Budapest (just over two hours away) if you fancy it. If you feel like staying more local, there’s a theme park in the village inspired by the Middle Ages, and it’s only 20 minutes’ walk away from the yurts. The village also has good public transport options.
